What Is Mormonism?

Mormonism is the belief of one God that all started in the early 1800. People who follow the religion of Mormonism are known as Mormons or Latter-day Saints. Mormons are Christians that follow the teachings in the bible and the “Book of Mormon”. The Mormons believe that God was sent from Heaven and was here to give us good news. Mormonism is a religion followed by many people around the world that believe God sent many prophets to spread the word of God after the death of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith, an American religious leader, is the founder of Mormonism.When it was founded in the spring of 1820, it was known as “Latter Day Saint Movement.” When he was just twenty-four years of age, he published the “Book of Mormon” which is still followed to this day by many Mormons around the world. “The Book of Mormon is the word of God, like the Bible. It is Holy Scripture, with form and content similar to that of the Bible” *(Mormon Lesson 7). In the article of “History of Mormonism” it states, “Joseph Smith played a leading role in organizing a church on April 6, 1830 which became known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”*(Golding, pg.1). Today the Latter-day Saints church is still around and has over 15 million members and is ranked the fourth largest Christian
