Shutting people out, doesn’t solve your problem Suicide is irreversible, it affects everyone that knew the person. In the book, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, the color blue is a symbol of sadness and emotion, it represents the finality of her decision. At the beginning of Hannah Baker’s school year she was pretty typical compared to other high school teenager, she was intelligent, beautiful, and diligent. As time went on things became more complicated and her emotions and the people around her changed the way she thought about life. Throughout the story Hannah became a romantic. All Hannah wanted was to find someone she could talk to, and trust. Although from all her past experiences, the people she knew and the things she went through wouldn’t allow her to be happy. …show more content…
Clay Is one of the major characters, the story is written through his thoughts and feelings. The box he receives contains recordings of a girl named Hannah, who had recently killed herself. From the beginning Hannah was already dead, the story is written through the recordings she left behind. Clay listens to the beautiful sound of her voice, and realizes hannah sent out recordings of the thirteen reasons why she committed suicide. Hannah accuse people on why she killed herself. Clay wonders what he did to Hannah, anxiety rushes over him. Although he had only spoke to her once, he had a massive crush on her. He tears open the box, and listens intently, he notices that the tapes are labeled in blue.“The one with a blue number three written in the corner. “(53) This quote is written by Clay. The color blue represents her misery, depression and the emotions she is feeling. The tapes begin in blue, symbolizing the start of her depression. The blue symbolizes how awful Hannah felt, the worst of all was that she had no one to talk
