This is an example of irony because Hannah wanted to tell someone about the stop sign to put it back up whereas Jenny didn’t want to because of the trouble she would get in. After leaving the stop sign on the ground, the opposite of what was expected happened. A boy from their school delivering pizza was hit by another car at that spot because there was no stop sign for the oncoming traffic. To support my claim, the author states, “‘Hannah, don’t worry,’ you said. Then you laughed. ‘Nobody obeys Stop signs anyway. They just roll on through. So now, because there isn’t one there, it’s legal. See? People will thank me’” (Asher244). To add onto my claim, Jenny makes it appear as if stop signs are useless, and no one listens them anyways. In reality though, they’re needed for many different things and it could’ve saved that boys life in the car
