The way the book played out the murder scene was far too simple compared to the way Hollywood approached it. In the book the butler didn’t witness the murder and neither did we. We were just left with the shocking death of Jay. In the old movie Gatsby steps outside as he passes a koi pond inside his house and then goes and dives into his pool. As he’s laying in his pool, he thinks he sees Daisy so he calls out her name. As he does we see a glimpse of who we later found out as Wilson.
