prepare me for harder classes down the road. Through Schreyer’s, I hope to further develop myself intellectual in my Honors-level work.
Moreover, my experiences in research through the Chemical Society has made me more passionate to pursue a MD/PHD track. Initially, through my work in Mrs. Gibb’s Pollen Project, I have been exposed to lab techniques such as working with a complex microscope and classifying different types of pollen. As my lab skills develop more, I know that Schreyer’s is the next step in my pursuit to become a physican-reseacher. Through the research opportunities and Honors Thesis, I can pursue an interdisciplinary thesis between medicine and pollen, a topic I wish to expand upon in my career.
Through my involvement in the Berks Honors Program, I have spoken to Schreyer’s scholars about their travel experiences. From Norway to South Africa, they traveled to many different places outside of the country. Consequently, from listening to their travels, I discovered how they developed a larger global understanding. As a result, I want to build on my limited global perspective to grow as a global citizen. Because of the lack of available opportunities to travel aboard in high school, I am eager to finally travel around the world. Notably, the Honors Coordinator, Doctor Sandy Feinstein, has discussed ideas about study aboard trips for next semester. And, because of my interest to travel abroad, I talked to her about being a part of these future plans. By taking a part of this trip, I will begin to have my own global experiences and act as a “taste” of the travels that Schreyer’s offers, ultimately developing as a member of the global community.
