In the scene, when sadness touches the core memory and makes the “pearl” turns blue, Riley begins to create dismal memories towards her new house and life in San Fransisco.
Joy then reveals that she does not want sadness to take part in Riley’s life. Consequently, Joy pushes Sadness away later on in the movie. Joy’s desire remains the same when she tries to return to the headquarter and fix the problems made by other emotions. Although, at the end of the story, Joy wants Sadness to take control of the panel, because she hopes Riley can be happy again. This illustrates Joy’s overall passion is to make Riley live her life with joyfulness. As a result, Inside Out does a great job on showing the protagonist’s desire through out the
plots. Inside Out is propose to be produced into an animation, which the targeted audience will more likely to be children from age five to fifteen. However, the script seems to be complicated for kids. Due to the concept of how the emotions are taking roles in our lives, that is hard for children to discern the messages. The message would be unclear for the kids, because of not understanding how certain actions are made by the emotion they have at that moment. Moreover, it is confusing for the audience whether the emotions are actually controlling Riley or guiding her to make decisions. Therefore, to broaden the audience’s age range may fix the issue and allows parents to explain to their kids. After reading the script, the content will be interpret differently by various age groups. To the younger kids, they would look at it as a normal animation made by Disney. To older generations, they will perceive the message of how happiness is not always the ultimate method to solve the conflicts. Therefore, Inside Out could not only be a kids’ film, but a lesson for every age of viewers. Base on the script, the story is lead by the dialogues rather than the actions. The lines are simple, but clear enough to deliver the ideas to the audience. The story itself is unique because not many animated films concentrate on our memories and how the emotions are the ones that make peoples’ decisions. The subplots of the Male and Female Forgetter is a superior metaphor of how people forget about the information we used to know. In addition, how a specific commercial song always get recall in ones’ brains. Lastly, Inside Out will be a successful movie that seems unsophisticated like a cartoon, but full of deep connotations.
