1. I feel that Thomas Jefferson’s decision to begin with “The Unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America” was necessary because it showed that all of the colonies were supportive and desired independence. No they couldn’t of because they needed all of the colonies to fully agree on independence before they signed it.
Jefferson’s reason for a formal declaration of independence was so that other countries such as France, know that the Colonists did not want to be ruled by anyone. I think it was necessary for Jefferson to state the “causes which impel them to separation” because it shows all the wrongs the British have done and shows why they were deciding to declare independence. …show more content…
Jefferson’s view on the purpose of government is that it is responsible to protect the people’s “unalienable rights”. Jefferson says that if government becomes “destructive of the ends for which it was created” it is the people’s responsibility to abolish it and replace it with a better government. Jefferson believed that the citizens of that government allows them to derive that power.
Jefferson’s statement that “all men are created equal” meant that god did not make one man better than another. Some conflicts that could have come from this was that during this time there were still slaves in all of the colonies. Slaves could of felt it unfair that if they are equal then why are they owned.
6. The King had done many horrible things while controlling the colonies. The King had sent swarms of new officers to harass the colonists and take their belongings. He had protected officers who had committed crimes such as: hurting and stealing from the colonists, and gave those soldiers who committed these crimes fake trials with no punishments. He had also plundered their seas, ravaged their coasts, burnt towns, and destroyed many of the colonists lives. I believe the reason Jefferson blamed the King instead of the Parliament was that the King had hired many of the people in charge of the colonies and he had much of the power over
