At times however, affirmative action can be taken too far, and a person is hired because of the color of their skin, rather than their qualifications. These ethical standards are set in place to create a culture that all are treated with dignity and respect. All are given equal access to advance within the company, and should ideally reduce employee turnover and improve productivity, which gives even more opportunity for growth of the company and advancement for the employee.
Ethics, as we all know in a company, starts at the top. Ethical leadership, and the decisions they make based on ethics or not determine the advancements or not of an employee. Ethics is basically having morals, and doing the right thing, as a leader and employee. Many times we struggle with what is right and what is wrong. In my opinion, if leaders follow the justice approach, and the moral-rights approach in every situation, then it is no way to get the decision wrong ethically. Ethics mark the difference between right and wrong, and encouraging everyone to follow those ethical guidelines is great for business and for personal growth. It promotes trust within the workplace, creates a more diverse environment, which creates a positive moral, and if the leaders set the standards and follow the ethical principles, it sets the example for the employees as well, in return has a positive public image. It is important to build a positive relationship with management/employees if everyone is treated fairly and with the same respect as the other. It will keep employees happy, which will keep them loyal to the company for many years. When employees are not happy at work, they tend not to work as hard, and makes it difficult to find satisfaction in going to work. When you know that you are not only treated fairly, but also recognized for the hard work you do, have opportunities to advance, then it makes getting up in the morning that much easier.
