After my first try, I thought it was the best thing ever. It was really fun and very addicting. Just like my experience, directors Rachel Dretzin and John Maggio did a study for PBS Frontline documentary called growing up online, where Rachel Dretzin and John Maggio went to Japan to interview this kid named Chun Young II. Chun Young II is a really special kid who lives with his mother in Japan. According to his mother, Chun Young is one of those kids who is addicted to playing a lot of computer video games on his computer. Everyday he comes home from school, eats lunch with his mom and the rest of the day he plays computer video games. According to his mother he lost control of himself, he is not successful at school and he lost his connection to the outside world and his mother. So his mother decided to sent him to treatment facility where he will get treatment for his video games addiction. After seeing this documentary, I was shocked, I thought this was crazy, little kid being addicted to computer video games and sending him to treatment facility. This documentary truly shows what the role of modern media technology in our lives. In reality this was expected, we live in a society, where people give their Iphones and Ipads to their little kids to play games on them when they are crying or when they are bothering, to keep them busy and entertained. We constantly use our cellphones during any experience and later cellphones become part of that experience. For example, recall an experience where you went to a football, soccer or any sports game. I can predict that majority of the people probably spent most of your time on their cellphones instead of watching the game. This happens to me all the time, out of nowhere i feel like i have to check my phone. Our constant use of our phones “erodes any experiences we have because we can never be entirely focused on one thing” ( “The Role…..2”).
