American served as an important economic body for Britain and France, as they exhausted their ready cash, and borrowed over $2 Billion dollars from America. In 1917 America declared war on the Central Powers. Without the aid of the United States, the Allies would likely have sued for peace according to terms dictated from Berlin. American men and supplies helped contain the Germans and help win the war.
