John Updike used mainly the following two ones:
Sight: When he described vividly what he sees, for example: a pigeon, seven men without hat, a policeman, a man reading, some workers repairing the roof, and the animals’ cages outside the zoo.
Hearing: When he described, the conversation of the three relatives, people listening to the radio, the child talking to the Father Seal, and the old man when feeding the squirrels.
But he also described the touch when he said “the snow was soggy”.

It was an article for The New Yorker Magazine, so the audience are the readers of it. But, in my opinion it could be a great description for blind people.
