Teacher is authority in the class which I observed. I expected that teacher shared the power with students, students and teacher made decision together. But in class teacher decided everything on himself. Teacher asked question to students. Teacher followed the course book. Actually the course book was the decision maker. It contains questions, activity and text. Teacher didn’t prepared worksheet or any visual things. Course book was projected the smart board, teacher followed the course book. 1) What value is there in having students decide when to stop an activity?
If students decide when to stop an activity they decide the timing. They hold power on their hands. It change the balance of class. Students use time how much they need.
12) What value is there in having students decide which questions or problems in the lesson were exposed?
Maybe students transfer their daily life in class. They decide the problems and so they learn when they use this sentences or vocabularies. They can use language in their life. But sometimes teachers can't understand students' problems and decide different problems. And then teachers lose students' interesting and participation.
20) What value is there in having students create the silences?
Students take responsibility their learning process. They warn each other and teacher don't need to warn students. Every person responses their life, learning process, job etc. If students create silences they also are consciousness of classroom

Especially in Turkey students expect the teacher to hold all the decision-making power. Students sit their table and expect that teachers lecture and make decision about everything. In our culture people obey everything and education system is built on cultural views. But there are some strategies. One of them is that teachers will be friendly but not friend. Students must recognize that teachers aren't authority in class. Learning is about themselves. Other of strategies is activity which students talk much more at. In our culture, teaching language built on grammar-translation method. Students read text and translate their mother language. It make harder to understand language for students. But teachers put some communicative activity their lesson plan and so students talk much more and they share the decision-making
