The title implies that things in general, should be questioned from time to time on how trustworthy the material is. Although things can be trustworthy and reliable, it doesn't mean we should just agree and not question it. Language and Reason are one of the two TOK ways of knowing I’ll be exploring.
Language is how we’re able to speak to people around us. It helps us communicate properly, often without confusion. Language is key to our daily lives, however, if and when used in a bad way, like to intentionally hurt someone else, problems arise. Language is great since it helps us get our point across to people, but when language is used in a context we’re not familiar with, language won’t get us anywhere and will do more harm than good.
Examples include connotation and denotation. Connotation is a meaning implied to a word. Denotation is the literal, dictionary defined word. Ambiguity is when a statement or word has at least more than one meaning or interpretation. …show more content…
To a large extent, knowledge in Language and Reason are both extremely trustworthy since they’re both logical and rational. There isn’t exactly an intuition, gut feeling about it. Language and reason just is the way it is.
Language is always very certain and reliable. The only time it isn’t is when it’s used in an unfamiliar situation due to its context with denotations.
Knowledge in language is extremely trustworthy because it’s how we’re able to communicate with people around us and gets rid of confusion most of the time. It’s critical for everyday lives since humans understand each other due to language. Language has helped us in many ways like when we’re in need, we can ask for help. Verbal language has been used a lot but sign language has also been created for people who are unable to speak, so to communicate, people have invented sign
