When I Discovered My Ancestry

There are many ways that I have discovered my ancestry. I have relatives that I have had to call from New Jersey. I’ve had to sit with my Grandfather, my only living grandparent, and talk with him. I have called my Aunts and Uncles from all over the country, trying to find everything out about my ancestors. I might as well have a bulletin board covered in pictures, names, and news articles all connected by a spool of red yarn. Through my search I found out many different things about my family, about my ancestors, and most importantly, about myself. I think it’s important to learn about your family history because it helps to learn more about yourself. I learned that I happen to be so stubborn because of my Polish and German line, although it might have just been because I am my father’s daughter. October 19, 2000, the day my life started. It was an unusually nice night in Hollywood, Florida, when all of a sudden I was here. As I grew, I became who I am now, with great memories of my friends and family, and even some bad ones. I have found different stories through my parents and their siblings, along with my grandfather, whom I’ve gotten closer to because of this essay. I guess you could say that I did enjoy doing this assignment. It gave me a new perspective of the world around and my family, through all the stories of immigration and heart-felt family reunions, it helped me to understand the struggles my family went through while they were trying to give their descendents a better life in America. I think God would have played a big part in that, they would have probably prayed through their journeries, praying for a better life and success in a new country.
