Who Is Responsible For Romeo And Juliet's Downfall
Romeo and Juliet Written by William Shakespeare, is one of the most well known love stories of all time. This story is mostly known for it’s tragic ending. Each character had a part to do in the demise of Romeo and Juliet. But there are two characters who are the most responsible for the this downfall. Those characters are,Tybalt and Romeo. There are several reasons why these two characters are the most responsible for the demise of Romeo and Juliet. Some reasons are because Tybalt started the fight that resulted in romeo being banished. In my opinion I believe Romeo is responsible because he acted violently when he killed Tybalt, paris, and himself, and because when he heard about Juliet's death he left mantua and acted impulsively. Tybalt had always been a character who has caused trouble throughout the story, he is the one who originally started the fight that led to banishment of Romeo, “Romeo the love I bear thee can afford No better term than this; thou art a villain.’’(III, I, 55-56). …show more content…
“ This shall determine that. [They fight, Tybalt falls.]” (III, I, 124) If Romeo had not killed Tybalt then Tybalt would have eventually had to pay for the death of Mercutio and Romeo Would not have been banished, but Romeo acts violently he doesn't think thoroughly before he does things this is also seen when he killed Paris, “ O I am slain! [falls] If thou be merciful. Open the tomb, lay me with Juliet. [Dies].” (V, III, 72-73.) Romeo should not have killed Tybalt but he acted violently and did a mistake, he also made the mistake of killing himself, “ Here's to my love! [drinks] O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die. [falls].” (V, III, 199-120]. If Romeo did not drink the poison he would have seen Juliet wake up and eventually they would finally be together, but he was very compulsive, which led him to his own

Romeo is at fault for his and Juliet's deaths. First, Romeo was with Tybalt right after Mercutio's death and said “this fight will decide that” (3.1.129). Romeo did not think of the consequences that came when buying the poison and that the pharmacist could also get in trouble. Lastly, Romeo decides to drink the poison. Others might say that Tybalt is responsible for the death of Juliet. This is true because, in act 3, scene 1. “Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries that thou hast done me; therefore turn and draw”. So if Tybalt hadn’t addressed Romeo and Mercutio, Romeo and Mercutio wouldn’t have died and Romeo wouldn’t have been banished. So if Romeo hadn’t been ostracized, Juliet wouldn’t have gone through desperate measures to avoid her marriage with Paris. Therefore, if Juliet hadn't taken Friar’s potion, Romeo wouldn't have killed Paris, or consumed the poison, Juliet wouldn't have killed herself. Therefore, I would say that Tybalt is the main reason for the deaths and tragedy in this book.…

I personally believe that Romeo and Juliet are tragic figures. The characters' personalities, the feud, and simple bad luck cause most of the problems that arise throughout the play. Tybalt indirectly causes Romeo's exile by attempting to incite him to a duel, which leads to Tybalt fighting with Mercutio, which in turn causes Romeo to kill Tybalt in revenge. Killing Tybalt caused not only Romeo's exile: it also triggered a chain of events leading to the deaths of Romeo, Juliet, Paris, and Lady Montague.…

The deaths of Romeo and Juliet are tragic in that they could have been prevented if not for their own foolish actions. First of all, Romeo and Juliet put themselves in many dangerous situations, and they also lied to everyone they knew and loved. They secretly got married without either of their parents blessing which put Romeo in a bad position as he could have gotten in a lot of trouble off Capulet. The death of Tybalt that Romeo blames on fortune is a direct result of his own movement and clearly chose his course of action “fire-eyed fury be my conduct now”. Can we blame Romeo and Juliet for their own deaths or were they simply victims?…

Tybalt’s abhorrence of the Montagues was the reason why he picked a fight with Romeo. Tybalt said to Romeo, “Therefore turn and draw” (III.1.38). Romeo refused to fight him, so Mercutio decided to duel with him instead. Mercutio ended up getting killed by Tybalt, who was at fault because he challenged people to duels and murdered Mercutio. Romeo was enraged that Tybalt killed his best friend, so without thinking rationally, Romeo killed Tybalt in revenge (III.1.93). Tybalt’s death was Romeo’s fault, because even though Tybalt killed Mercutio, it does not mean it was right for Romeo to kill Tybalt.…

Another significant character that contributes to Romeo and Juliet's death by thinking with his heart was Romeo himself. Mercutio is the best friend of Romeo. Romeo And Juliet Blame

People may think that Tybalt is to blame because he got into a fight with Romeo ultimately causing Romeo to be banished. Tybalt did actively and willingly go to battle with Romeo in the streets. He also did kill Mercutio and caused Romeo to seek revenge for his friend. However, Tybalt attacked Romeo because he was raised to hate the Montagues. All that Tybalt knew was his family's hatred for the Montagues. Due to this, Tybalt got into a fight with Romeo, causing Romeo to get banished, and ultimately causing Romeo and Juliet to kill themselves in the end. In the play when Romeo comes to the Capulets's party, Tybalt says, "This, by his voice, should be a Montague." Quoted from pg. 1014. Tybalt said this because he gets angered that Romeo has snuck into the party unannounced. This causes Tybalt to grow even more of a hatred to Romeo specifically. Due to Romeo coming to the party without being invited and just for being a Montague, Tybalt's instincts tell him to fight Romeo. Were it not for the family feud, Tybalt would have little to no reason to hate Romeo, causing him to do battle with Romeo, ultimately causing Romeo and Juliet's deaths. Tybalt is not a major factor into the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. His hatred for Romeo and the Montagues was taught and grown into him, and due to the secrecy of Romeo, he felt offended by the uninvited Romeo to the Capulet…

First Tybalt is one of the people who are responsible for the tragedy. Tybalt hated the Montagues already, and when Romeo showed up to the Capulet party, Tybalt overreacted and got angry at Romeo and that made him angry and resulted in killing Mercutio (I, i, 55-96). Lord Capulet said, don’t do anything to Romeo, but Tybalt didn’t listen because he was too angry for Romeo even being at the Capulet party. Also If he had just little kindness in his heart, Mercutio and Tybalt would’ve lived and Romeo wouldn’t be banished (III, i, 112-128). This resulted it in Romeo’s banishment, and in the end, his death, along with Juliet. Romeo’s banishment led to Friar Lawrence’s plan and Friar Lawrence is also responsible for their death from his own Plan…
