Three people were to blame for this. Friar Lawrence is the main reason Romeo and Juliet were dead. Lord and Lady Capulet were next. If Juliet’s parents never made her marry Paris, she would have never gone to Friar Lawrence for help. Friar Lawrence gave Juliet a potion that would make it seem as if Juliet was dead. He planned on telling Romeo what had really happened, but someone else delivered the wrong news to Romeo first. Romeo found Juliet and thought she was dead. He decided that he could not live without her, and killed himself. Moments later, Juliet woke up. She saw Romeo dead, and killed herself as well.
If Friar Lawrence had not given Juliet the potion, she or Romeo would not have died. There could have been another way to solve Juliet’s problem. The families could not get along with each other. The feud led to many things that caused the deaths. Romeo was banished for killing Tybalt. Juliet was sad when Romeo left, but being forced to marry Paris was too much for her to handle. “The fearful passage of their death-mark’d love, And the continuance of their parents’ rage” This quote explains how Romeo and Juliet will have a problem loving each other because of their parents. Both of them are willing to give up their family names if it means they can be together. Friar Lawrence thinks that if Romeo and Juliet get married, the feud will end.
