Many people think that the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet occurs because of the senseless feuding of the adult characters. Romeo and Juliet’s author William Shakespeare is universally recognized as one of the greatest writers in the English language. One of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is a story about two star-crossed lovers who fall victim to their families’ foolish feud. Because the Montagues and Capulets are not at peace, Romeo and Juliet ends with the tragic deaths of two young adults sacrificing their lives in a quest for love. Because the Montagues and Capulets are known to be in a longstanding and very public feud, Romeo and Juliet feel the need to conceal their love, which leads to their tragic ending. Juliet discovers that her beloved Romeo is a Montague, but Juliet believes that Romeo is more important than the consequences she may face because of his last name. When Juliet is talking to herself on the balcony she states, “What’s Montague? It is nor hand nor foot, nor arm nor face, nor any other part belonging to a man,” (2.2.39-42). This gives Juliet even less time to seek help. Once again, fate works against Romeo and Juliet. They have fallen victim to the Capulet and Montague feud. Capulet is trying to rush the wedding so he can enjoy a higher social status than the Montagues. Because of Capulet’s decision, Juliet is forced to frantically go outside the family and seek help.
