that can lead both sides of the family to the hands of death. During this crucial event in the book, Romeo was love-sick due to the fact that his old lover, Rosaline, didn’t want to be ‘comfort’ at all by Romeo. This made Romeo very depressed and dramatic throughout the book, until he meet Juliet when he tried to sabotage Lord Capulet’s party(AKA Juliet’s father). Throughout the story, Romeo and Juliet exchange their romantic comments through the Nurse (Juliet’s maid). Things were going the way they were suppose to be until Romeo was involved in a street fight which killed Tybalt and Mercutio. At this point of the book, Romeo just realized that he had pulled the last straw in order for Prince Escalus to keep his patient with Montague and Capulet families. Romeo was forced to flee the city, and Juliet had become so depressed after his departure to Mantua. After, Juliet had visit the Friar (priest), the priest had gave her a potion that would put her to sleep.
As a result, everyone in Verona thought that she was died because she wouldn’t wake up from the potion, but no one knew that it was part of the Friar’s plan in order to reunite her with Romeo. The news of Juliet’s “death” was so devastating that the news soon got to Mantua, where Romeo was roaming around. When Romeo heard what happened, he immediately bought poison and a horse in order to travel to Verona where he would commit suicide, due to Juliet not being in his life anymore. When Romeo got to Verona, he committed suicide aside Juliet’s body and Juliet literally woke up after Romeo had just killed himself. She then grabbed Romeo’s dagger and stab herself.”Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, emphasizes Romeo and Juliet by comparing and contrasting their characters, and the factor that makes them fall in love. The text from the play will assist the comprehension of the characters Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo Montague is a emotional, extraordinary, and temperamental young lad. You would expect him to be the behaved one in a relationship, but it is reversed. Romeo is a type of young man that is too dramatic and makes a common situation, in life,
into an exaggeration to the readers. Referring to the text, the beginning of the play annonces, “Romeo: Ay me! sad hours seem long. Was that my father that went hence so fast? Benvolio: It was. What sadness lengthens Romeo's hours? Romeo: Not having that, which, having, makes them short. Benvolio: In love? Romeo: Out— Benvolio: Of love? Romeo: Out of her favour, where I am in love.[Act 1 Scene 1 Lines 166-173]” Romeo was clearly in love with somebody else, before Juliet. This quote shows that Romeo is completely infatuated for Rosaline [Romeo’s Ex-lover]. What this quote shows to the audience is the Rosaline is not interested at all with Romeo. Maybe Romeo isn’t in love with Rosaline, he just is addicted to the vision of love. When Lord Capulet [AKA Juliet’s father] made a guest list for his party and gave it to a servant, but the servant took it to Romeo and Benvolio because he couldn’t read the names on the list. In those names, was the name of Rosaline. When they found out, that Rosaline was going to the Capulet party, they decided to go. When they arrived at the party, in masks, Romeo was speaking at the party when Tybalt [Juliet’s Cousin] overheard him. Tybalt went to go tell Lord Capulet but he said, “Content thee, gentle coz. Let him alone. He bears him like a portly gentleman, And, to say truth, Verona brags of him. To be a virtuous and well-governed youth. I would not for the wealth of all the town Here in my house do him disparagement. Therefore be patient. Take no note of him. It is my will, the which if thou respect, Show a fair presence and put off these frowns, An ill-beseeming semblance for a feast.[Act 1 Scene 5 Lines 74-83]” In simplified words, Lord Capulet was delighted that Romeo was at his party--even though his family hate each other. Lord Capulet, in the text states that everyone loves and adores Romeo due to his act of kindness and passion for everyone he has in Verona. When Romeo meets Juliet, his lovesick for Rosaline completely was erased from his memory. After seeing her for such a short moment, Romeo was already having very strong love emotions towards her. According to the text, when Romeo snuck into the Capulet’s garden, he said to himself, “...But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon…[Act 2 Scene 2 Lines 2-4]” This quote from the play definitely shows how in love Romeo was just getting a first glimpse of her. The love that Romeo had established in his heart was so addicting that it took full control of him. The evidentiary text support from the text shows how emotional, extraordinary, and temperamental Romeo is.
On the other hand of this play, Juliet Capulet is an innocent girl. The book displays that as the play evolves from beginning, middle, to end, Juliet independently and dependently transforms from a child to a mature woman at such a young age. One example that shows Juliet as a child is when Lady Capulet asked her about marriage. Juliet responded by saying, “It is an [honor] that I dream not of.[Act 1 Scene 3 Line 72]”In translation to modern English, Juliet said to Lady Capulet, that it is something that she has never thought about. This means in context that Juliet has never known anything about love previously before meeting Romeo, due to the fact that Juliet is a thirteen year-old! An example of when Juliet had entered the process of maturing is when she agreed to marry Romeo. The text said, “Nurse: Then hie you hence to Friar Lawrence's Cell. There stays a husband to make you a wife...Juliet: Hie to High Fortune! Honest nurse, farewell.” This quote supports this point due to the fact that Juliet had just entered the stages of maturing herself, unlike Romeo who was already halfway there. Lastly, a very outstanding example of Juliet maturing is when her father announced to her that he had arranged for her to get marry to Paris. Juliet was pro-against her marriage to Paris and lead up to a large argument between her father and herself. Juliet said in her defense to Lord Capulet that, “Not proud you have, but thankful that you have. Proud can I never be of what I hate, but thankful even for hate that is meant love.[Act 3 Scene 5 Lines 151-153” This quote definitely fits the topic because Juliet has now experience so much things that she is mature enough to defend for her own rights, even though Lord Capulet got mad and still obligated her to marry Paris. Specific quotes from the acts and scenes from play supports the development of Juliet's maturity. Juliet’s maturity had gone so tremendously that it now looks like the maturity of a grown woman today in the present.
Both Romeo and Juliet share a some what amount of things in common. For instance, the way the both lovers exchange romantic comments like, “Romeo: With love’s light wings did I o'erperch these walls, For stony limits cannot hold love out…[Act 2 Scene 2 Lines 71-72]” or “Juliet:O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name;Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I'll no longer be a Capulet.[Act 2 Scene 2 Lines 36-39]. It is very surprising how a thirteen year-old girl can have such a blinding appearance and at the same time maturing herself into a woman, while Romeo [An eighteen year-old] is so captured by Juliet’s looks. Romeo and Juliet help each other out by, Romeo giving Juliet the chance of maturing herself and Juliet showing Romeo what idea of love is. The two lovers also are the same due to the fact that both of their families hate each other. The ultimate aspects that both Romeo and Juliet share in common is that they both committed suicide. The last words of Romeo were, “Thus with a kiss I die [Act 5 Scene 3 Line 120],” before the poison killed him. Moments after killing himself, Juliet follows along because she simply cannot live a life without Romeo. The attraction that Romeo and Juliet have is that they are both so instant and romantic, making all the differences erase itself. With the differences gone from their relationship, it doesn’t leave the feeling that Romeo and Juliet need to complain.
William Shakespeare's famous poem, “Romeo and Juliet,” provides so much clues, informations, and moral lessons. The comparison and contrast of Romeo, Juliet, and their romantic comments are such an important aspect that helps you understand why did Romeo and Juliet really fall in love with one another? Something that will be comprehended differently is that the two lovers helped one another. Romeo was lost in the beginning of the book because he didn’t know who was going to accept his addiction with the idea of love. Juliet was able to fix that for him because he now understand that Juliet was the one that could accept his addiction with love. Juliet had trouble in maturing herself, until Romeo came into her life which changed her maturity in a matter of days. The issues that the both characters share is that it has something to do with their love life. Although, Romeo and Juliet share the same fact [love], they started and developed differently. Overall, as a result of comparing and contrasting Romeo and Juliet, the both lovers start out in different development but ended up in the same outcome.
