The first argument and the most basic question on any discussion of abortion is whether the fetus, or unborn child, is a human person or not. On the pro-life side, people argue that the fetus is "a human within a human". In the context of biology, a fetus is “alive” as it grows in the mother’s womb by time to time due to the cell division. On the pro-choice side people tend to argue that a child can only be consider…
The debate on abortion is one that still to this day has been constantly argued. This argument can be historically dated back to 1973, where a popular case was brought into the Supreme Court. This was the Roe V Wade case, which legalized abortions in “abortion in earlier months of pregnancy without restrictions and with restrictions in later months” (Lewis). Jane Roe was the alias for Norma McCorvery. She was the one arguing that in Texas there should be abortions allowed due to the protection of her rights as well as many other women that she was speaking for. The argument of abortion, however, works well beyond just the “rights” of the women wanting it. There is death involved as well as responsibilities that apparently many women aren’t ready for. However there are certain circumstances in which the pregnancy might not have been exactly planned or the child wouldn’t be safe in the living conditions of its parents. In this case, abortion should still not be looked at instead adoption should be thought about. The Roe V Wade case should be reconsidered to only have an abortion done if it was absolutely vital to the person asking for it.…
There are a mass amount of controversies when the word “abortion” is brought into awareness. This dispute has brought about both positive and negative affects on society. Abortion plays a major role in the everyday life of a human. People base their political parties, and even the jobs they choose to work at, all depending whether the host is pro-life or pro-choice. I personally am pro-life. I have made the decision of being pro-life based on multiple observations. Some of these observations include you are murdering your own child, you need to face the consequences of your actions, and to give people who are not able to have their own offspring a chance to be a mother/parent.…
A couple decades ago, when abortion was illegal, thousands of women died because they did not want to bear an infant and attempted to terminate the child 's life by themselves or with an unprofessional approach. After 1973 's Supreme Court decision, which allowed women to have the choice to abortion, thousands of women were saved.Imagine you have a balance beam. On one side you have the physical life of an infant and on the other you have the mental and emotional life of a mother and her unwanted child. Which side can we, as civil humans, claim as more valuable? Up to this current day, abortion has become an exigent issue that faces everyone nationwide. As a moral and ethical issue, abortion is a dilemma for society. Abortion was illegal before the 1973 Supreme Court decision in the trial of Roe v. Wade, but now that abortion is legitimate, women have the freedom and the choice to live their life the way they want to. Albeit, abortion is criticized by religious sects in America and some of the public, the practice of abortion should remain legal in the U.S. because it allows a woman to choose her destiny and prevents unwanted children. Abortion can save thousands of lives of women and thus, should remain legal in the United States.…
I believe that a woman should be able to abort under reasonable circumstance and during a certain time. A woman has a right to choose, No one should not be able to control what a woman does with her body. By granting women the right to choose, this does not permit her to kill, but to decide what is best for all persons involved. Many situations show that abortion may be the best for the parents and the unborn child. Situations such as rape or incest prove that it is not the woman’s fault and not fair to the mother or the unborn child to pay for it. There are other situations such as if the mother carries a disease it can be passed on, or if the parents are unfit to raise a family at the time. Any case however, should be between the two individuals involved and not the government.…
The debate over the choice to have an abortion and the timeline used to say when an abortion should be allowed is one that has caused much divide in society and in the courtroom. There are varying views and opinions from the moment of conception being a soul and when a fetus is considered human. There are also those who suggest that babies are not actually human until they are completely formed. A third group and the one that I choose to side with is that a woman has the right to their body and that they should have the ability to have an abortion in cases where they see fit or when it is deemed medically necessary. I believe that abortion should be up to each individual woman to decide if it best suits their individual needs when the possibility of life and death is at stake. The problem with abortion is there are many that hold the opinion that abortion is never justified and in my opinion that is absurd. I believe that every woman should have the ability or at the least the possibility of her choice in aborting an unwanted child as long as it is justifiable; since she will be the one responsible for this creation not the law or even those in society that feel abortion is wrong. Therefore, she herself should dictate her choices and not others. This responsibility is not something that should be taken lightly as there are many needs of not only the mother but the fetus itself once it is born. The parent must be able to care nurture and provide for this individual for a very long time and the mother should be…
It is hard to find a single definition for the word “abortion.” Dictionary.com states that an abortion is also called voluntary abortion and it is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy. However, google states that an abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first twenty-eight weeks of pregnancy. On the contrary, Merriam Webster defines an abortion as a medical procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of the fetus. Just reading these definitions begin the argument of whether or not abortion should be legal and if it is “morally” right. Abortion has become a popular topic of discussion across politics and within churches. Although both sides have valid arguments, it is up to the woman carrying the child to decide whether she will keep the child or not. No government, nor religion should force someone into making a decision they weren’t fully supportive of.…
I stand behind the saying “my body, my choice”. It should be the pregnant woman’s decision to do what she likes with her body. I believe that the female having the baby should be the one to decide if she wants to have the baby or not. Why should someone who knows nothing about that person or her situation decide what her future will be? “Only a pregnant woman knows whether she is ready to have a child, and governments can play no role in influencing that decision.” cited from Right’s Center for Reproductive “Abortion is a Women’s Right”. At Issue: The Ethics of Abortion. Also a women’s right to privacy gives her the right to have an abortion without the government prying in.…
In conclusion, I believe it is a woman’s choice whether she does get an abortion or not and you do not know her reasons, so no one should be allowed to decide this for them, otherwise harmful abortions will keep killing and harming women or if they keep the baby it can be emotionally and physically harmful for the…
Abortion is an extremely controversial issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a women should have the right to choose. I believe that abortion is morally and ethically wrong. 21% of all U.S. pregnancies (excluding miscarriages) end in abortions.…
Although I am against abortion, some believe that it is okay to have an abortion. They believe that if the mother gets rapped then she could abort the child. I think that you should not make the child pay for someone else’s actions. Also they could say that it was okay if the mother “accidentally” got pregnant. Well if the mother made the decision to have intercorse with a male then she can pick up the responsibility of taking care of her child. Others believe that there is no life, just a fetus. The words “embryo” and “fetus” do not refer to a non-living human. They describe a stage of development for the…
When a baby is aborted it is still in the process to be a fetus. The baby is tissue in the uterus, which means that the avoid would not feel any pain. Taking away the right for women to have the option of abortion would lead to more deaths because women would seek illegal abortions. In countries outside of the US, the cause of woman's death is 13% from getting illegal abortions. Before abortions were legal in the US, 265 deaths occurred in the year of 1965 because of illegal abortions. Abortions are against religions, but in US God and state are separate so there should be no religion influencing people's stance on abortion. Abortion needs to stay legal to save women's lives mentally, physically, and…
Abortion is a very controversial policy issue. Stopping the development of an unborn human being is difficult to determine whether it is right or wrong because every woman has different reasons to get abortion. The problem of this issue is that denying women the right to abortion means taking away the control women should have over their bodies. The most involved in this policy issue are clinics and feminists. What have been done to address this problem are court cases, rallies/protests, and ad campaigns throughout America by many different interest groups and clinics. I believe the problem of this issue is people trying to take a woman’s right to an abortion away from her even though she has a reason to get an abortion.…
Abortion is a huge topic in America right now, and it has been for a long time. People have fought about Abortion for what feels like forever. Some people are pro-choice, and some are pro-life. I believe that an unborn baby has the same rights as a woman. Abortion is wrong because it violates human rights, it can cause harm to the woman, and it clams a person’s life.…
In the past few years abortion has grown to become one of the largest controversial topics around the world. As politics have republican and democrat, abortion has pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life being anti-abortion and pro-choice being for abortion. Abortion has been around for decades, but now doctors can perform safe procedures with low complication rates. If abortion is to become illegal it will cause more women to seek other ways to terminate their pregnancy. Abortion should be legal, in case a victim of sexual assault, birth defects, and even for safety reasons.…
