Why Accountability Is Important Essay

The real importance of making sure that weapons and ammo can be boiled down to a few key ideas. There is operational security, such as in a arms room or in a field environment. This is closely followed by mission success and the level of a soldiers over all mission readiness. If you are prepping to go the the field or deployment you have to have order and accountability for your equipment. Exercising accountability of your items or items that you are signed for allows you and your unit to operate at a high standard. Also this denies an unauthorized attempt or an enemy the chance to create a loss of mission success. Accountability is not a difficult concept to understand. Accountability can be defined as meaning what you say, saying what you mean, and doing what you say. In short you can say that it is taking responsibility of your words and actions. I have made a short list of a few ideas of physical security of arms and ammo. First myself and my unit can not complete our mission and are ineffective without our equipment, Second a missing or lost weapon can put us or others at risk of danger. And lastly but equally as important is that lost or missing equipment can prompt time wasting and unwanted official repercussions.
I believe that the absolute worst that can happen is an enemy to my mission, ether foreign or domestic, can take the equipment and use it to the determinate of mine and my units mission. It would be a terrible thing to know that something that I was accountable for caused heartache or death for me or one of my buddies. This can be used to prove that one is not only ineffective without their equipment but that it can put others in grave danger.
