Why Are Athletes Overpaid
Do you have a role model? Have you ever tried so hard to do something? Well, that’s what athletes’ do for a living. Many people say that athletes’ are overpaid but I disagree. An athlete like LeBron James deserves a good salary for all the work he has done and the self-image he creates. The sports industry contains many jobs from cheerleading to coaching and if players were terrible why would anyone work for them? Jobs, they pay for our necessities. There are many jobs that are involved with sports like the coach, the cheerleaders, the guy that tells the stadium who’s switching out for who with a sign, and many more! Athletes are normally fit and know what they’re doing in a sport but what if they had no knowledge of the sport whatsoever. If we didn’t even have sports that would take away thousands of peoples jobs easily. Even worse, terrific movies like The Waterboy wouldn’t exist, there goes another great thing about sports. Have you ever stubbed your toe on the corner of your table, it hurts a lot. Now imagine that but you take away the table that costs $1200, that is what kind of injuries athletes take. Injuries can be as severe as life-altering and sadly career-ending. Retired New York Jets wide receiver Wesley Walker suffered so much nerve damage and muscle loss he can barely open a water bottle. In 1978, Stingley, a player for the New England Patriots, suffered two …show more content…

And let us not forget the NBA finals, the Golden State Warriors vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. We enjoy watching great moments like in these two events, we celebrate for these special occasions. There is only one thing that drives these athletes to do better: their fans. The people support athletes like LeBron James because they make great role models and careers that drive us

"If you pay to participate in a sport, the overall quality of the team, equipment, and experience will be better," quote from Murphy Georger. What Georger is saying is that when you pay to participate in a sport everything will be better because the money that people pay to join will be used in a fabulous way. Students should pay to play a school sport because the money can be used to buy good equipment, they can also use the money to pay the coach, and the athletes could use the money to benifit the team.…
