Although the honor roll goal was set by my parents, I plan on retain that goal as I leave home and journey into college.
Achieving satisfactory grades is a sign of hard work and integrity. I have also set the goal to learn everything I can to help me in the future, things that will help me achieve my career goals. As for my future career, I have set many personal goals. Becoming a nurse, I plan to do everything in my power to help patients. I believe that this will be a result of doing well in my classes. I am obligated to learn everything I possibly can, in order to help patients every way I can. I have set another goal to make all visits enjoyable, rather than stressful. I believe that part of a nurse's job is to help make the visit go as smoothly as possible. Sometimes it may just be keeping the patient's calm so the doctors can do what they need to, or it may be treating the patients in a timely manner. Growing up, I always wanted to help people when they are most vulnerable. I fell in love with medicine at a young age, and despite changing what i wanted to do as I grew up, medicine stuck with me throughout the
years.
I began going to Grace Bible Church when I was merely a year old. The ladies in the nursery cared for me despite the fact that I cried whenever my mother left me. Throughout middle and high school, I decided to give back to the church that helped raise me by volunteering in the church's nursery . There I learned how to care for multiple children at the same time, each with different needs and wants. Difficult is not a strong enough word to describe the challenge. Despite the difficulties, I worked under skilled volunteers, who helped me develop the skill and patience it took to take care of the young children. After some time, caring for 20 children under the age of 4 became effortless. While volunteering in the Grace Bible Church nursery, I discovered I wanted, more than anything, to care for children. With this in mind, I determined I want to specialize in pediatrics.
In 2015 the Trotty's hired me to be their part time babysitter for their son Noah. An hour a week, Noah and I would play pretend, jump around the house, and watch Daniel Tiger and Sesame Street. In 2017, the Totty's welcomed their daughter Harper, and a few months later, joined me and her brother in our play time. I fell in love with taking care of Noah and Harper. Katy Trotty, a professor at the local nursing school, inspired me to become a nurse. She became an outstanding mentor for me as I commenced my journey as a nurse. Katy encouraged me find to schools with marvelous nursing programs, which is how I came to know and love Texas Tech University and its nursing program. I am thrilled to continue pursuing my goals, and even more excited to begin pursuing my degree in nursing. It shall be a difficult journey with a beautiful destination, one that I cannot wait to perceive.
