ROADS
- Important roads spread out from cities
- Over 50,000 miles of paved roads were all over the Roman empire. They connect cities and forts
- Roads built to stay a long time
- A few roads we still use today
- Roads were generally built for soldiers to march faster from one place to another
- People traveled with soldiers such as military engineers, architects, stonemasons, and surveyors
- When soldiers weren’t fighting, they would work on the roads
- Roads: Greatly built. Hard paved and drained. Made communication easier and faster. Government and trading more efficient.
