Why Are Volcanoes Good

Did anyone know that around 10 volcanoes erupt everyday and it helps many people? Volcanoes are very good for many thing and it helps alot of people in the world for a huge list of things that it can do for people volcanoes can help economic trouble and even it can help hunger. This area where people live on volcanoes are safe on many levels like some volcanoes people live on are super quiet eruption volcanoes and they do not erupt and explode like volcanoes people think of. But sometimes disaster do strike and a quiet volcano can become explosive because it is a composite volcano and it can kill and take out everything in its path. Living on volcanoes can be very dangerous if no one knows what their doing however it also can be very good for
many things three things are-- Materials they give, Geothermal Energy it brings, and Tourism It brings. First reason anyone should live on or near a volcano is the material or minerals it brings.
Minerals are very common on volcanoes and with it being very common but not common for other areas of the world they can be very rich in cost. People love these minerals they find on volcanoes because they are great for building and also they are very good for selling to people who do not have access to them. With minerals and the attraction of a volcano it brings many tourists and they always love things to remember the times so people sell the minerals they get on the volcano and sell it to many tourists. “Hot gases escaping through vents also bring minerals to the surface, notably sulfur, which collects around the vents as it condenses and solidifies. Locals collect the sulfur and sell it” Stated by (The Geography Site). Minerals like sulfur can sell for a decent price if people have enough of it and sulfur is one of the more common minerals from volcanoes when there are much more rare
minerals. Another reason to live near or on a volcano is the tourism it brings. Tourism is an amazing thing for people who live on or near a volcano. Tourism creates jobs for people who want jobs and make the best out of where they live and create or work in a tourism business. More things people can make businesses with are like mentoring or tours because volcanoes attract millions of people a year and they will do anything for the best experience. An example of this is in 2010 in the Hawaii National Parks for volcanoes they made around 188 million dollars off tourists and the more tourist the more jobs for the locals. “Tourism creates jobs in shops, restaurants, hotels and tourist centres/national parks. Locals economies can profit from volcanism throughout the year, whereas skiing, for example, has only a limited winter season” Explained (The Geography Site). Without seasons like skiing it is very likely the people who run these would make more money and have more jobs open. Finally the final reason people should live on or near a volcano is the energy they get which is geothermal energy.
An energy source that is an amazing thing for people who live in volcanic areas because the volcanic area can heat and cool their houses. Also with the energy it is very good for people who are staying in their houses for a long time and want to invest in something they will not have to pay more money for in the future. Turbines ran on the volcano are pushed by the steam of the volcano but not the direct steam because that will clog the turbine. People are starting to switch to this energy source because it is very efficient and easy to use. “Countries such as Iceland make extensive use of geothermal power, with approximately two thirds of Iceland's electricity coming from steam powered turbines. New Zealand and to a lesser extent, Japan, also make effective use of geothermal energy” Stated in the article (The Geography Site). Geothermal energy is starting to be used more and more by foreign countries and it is paying off for them for living next to volcanoes for the
energy. Although the benefits outweigh the costs the costs can be a reason why people do not live on volcanoes because it is very hazardous as well if anyone does not know what they are doing. Some very hazardous things volcanoes bring are Lahars and Volcanic Gases they can kill if people do not know what they are doing. Lahars are floods from rainfall but the debris from the mountain gets picked up from the water and carried down the volcano destroying almost everything in its path. Volcanic Gases also are very deadly but no one won’t have to worry about this if people live on an inactive volcano because there are no gases to escape from the volcano. “Volcanoes emit gases during eruptions. Even when a volcano is not erupting, cracks in the ground allow gases to vent to the surface” Exclaimed (Pacific Disaster Center). Volcanic gases come out of the top of the volcano when it is erupting and can suffocate people and kill people. But the benefits outweigh the costs and people should live on volcanoes and people should live by volcanoes. Living by volcanoes is amazing thing for people who are acknowledged at least at the volcano they live at and the benefits outweigh the cost by a longshot. Overall there are many opinions on the topic but people should try to live by volcanoes if they can because they come with many upsides and some downsides but if it is not a active volcano no one will have to worry. In conclusion people that are on islands with volcanoes or just land with volcanoes they should live by them and not be scared of them unless it is a cinder or composite volcano only live by shield volcanoes.
