I have always been the type of person who has a tremendous amount of desire to achieve. I want to be somebody. I want to make a difference in my community. As a result I set four major goals for myself during my junior year in high school. The first of these goals is completing my high school education with at least a 3.0 grade point average or above. The second goal is to obtain a college education. The third goal is to start a lasting career for myself as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. The last goal is to raise a family in the best possible atmosphere.…
Growing up my mom has always encouraged my siblings and I to continue our education to as far as college. My mother never really got the chance to attend college because her family could not afford to put all their kids in school. She had seven siblings and an extra bill for school was not something her parents were able to afford. I consider myself really lucky to be alive in a time where there are so many opportunities to be able to afford college. If it were not for scholarships and financial aid, my mother’s story would be repeated once again. Through financial aid, the door for a college career is opened for me and I’m willing to enter it. My biggest motivator to push myself academically has been my…
Why attend a college? There are several people who don't attend to college, not knowing that a degree will help with many things. Attending a college is the first step to obtain all three of these results. First, people work at a place where they are there only for the high salary. Secondly, others don't spend much time with their family or friends for the reason that they need to work in order to provide. Finally, there are several people who have jobs that they dislike. A college is able to give many benefits, for instance, the ability to a high salary, ability to spend time with family and friends, and the ability to appreciate their job.…
Going to college has always been a goal to myself. Personally, it means more than expecting to get a good job with a high earning potential. It means the opportunity to develop myself as a person and become a valued member of society. It means, that as the oldest brother and first generation in my family with the possibility to attend college, setting an example for my younger siblings about how to shape your own path and break that mindset of “do what you have to do” and replacing it with one which says, “do something that makes you happy.”…
Growing up in a financially disadvantaged family, it became obvious to me at an early age that I needed to go to college if I did not want my children to endure the struggles I did during my childhood. By the time I had reached the 3rd grade I had convinced myself that I would go to college, work for a degree, and die trying if I failed. This may seem extreme, however this mindset has gotten me through several struggles and misfortunes life has thrown my direction.…
There are many reasons why people go to college. College plays a role a student’s life, one of these roles are to help get students a better job that pays them a lot but that isn’t the only reason. According to Melisa McCreery “Higher education provides a number of benefits; most notably to the nation’s economic stability and job creation, civic engagement, and pulling students from low socioeconomic situation and landing them securely in middle class America.” In other words college is to help better a student’s life as well as to help them be able to contribute to society positively. College also provides many classes that can help students achieve their full potential when they are out in the world as well and making you better understand the world. According to Robert Harris these classes are liberal arts classes. Although you might argue that you don’t need these classes for many majors by them self but Harris explains to you the benefits that taking a…

The reason why i want to attend college is because it will be an honor to my family and especially to my mother. College is not common in my family because no one has gone to college yet and I would want to be the first in my family to attend a 4 year university. Going to college will make me feel proud of myself because I will make my mom proud and not just that, but make myself proud of all the accomplishments i have accomplished so far. Personally my career goals is to do something i'm just not going to enjoy for a temporality time, but for the rest of my life. The field where i would want to study is physical therapy or a field where i would be working with bones, possibly I can major in english. Physical therapy grabs my attention because i used to play soccer, but due to health issues I stopped playing, started coaching my brothers team and what i enjoyed from that experience was when someone would…
I want to attend college to earn a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, but major in Pre-Law. I also want to continue my studies, get a great paying job, and join Delta Sigma Theta. College can be a very fun experience, but you also need to take it very seriously. Education is nothing to be foolish with.…
When I graduated high school I knew I was going to attend college. It wasn’t a question. It was instilled in me as a child that I would be the only one of my siblings to go to school. My brothers would be forced into the military. It was never a desire of mine to attend college. It was more like the expected next step. Needless to say my passion for school was null and void. I attribute my academic standing to this fact. Maybe if I'd thought about what I wanted to do with my life versus just going with what was expected I would've done a little better.…
I would like to attend college because I want to have a higher level of education after high school, to make my own money and not having to live on the streets. I would also like to be more independent. My career I’m still unsure of what I want to do because I’m interested in more than one career and I can’t decide which one fits best for me. My family mainly influenced my preparation and motivation towards college and having a better future, my parents never went to college and they both have their high school diploma. In the soon future I never want to have an experience of almost being homeless, asking for money, or having to get food stamps or be be associated with section 8.…
