Why children should not be home schooled
In my opinion, children should not be able to be home schooled. There are many reasons to not homeschool your kids. Home school can have a broad negative effect on not just the child, but the parent as well. Here are three main reasons for not homeschooling your child: lack of social skills, motivation, and patience.
One big negative aspect of homeschooling is social skills. Socialization is a major part of a child’s development. Home schooled children don't get the same social skills that children in public schools do. Forming bonds and friendships is important in a child’s developing social skills. When home schooling, it is typically just you and maybe a few friends in the homeschooling community. Children need to be able to learn from each other. They don't get the opportunity to interact with other kids at the same age, or even younger or older kids. The lack of social skills formed from homeschooling can harm the child later in life.
Another main reason children should not be home schooled is because of motivation. Some children need to be challenged and motivated to do their school work. A lot of time and patience goes into homeschooling your child. You must have a lot of patience and not get frustrated easily. When children don't behave it can cause the parent to get frustrated. When the parent gets frustrated it can cause the child to act negatively. As a homeschool parent you have to know the difference between being a parent and being a teacher.
