Another reason to chimpanzees should not be kept in scientific laboratories because impossible for physical contact.
However, chimps should not be in contact each other because they spend more time in cages. From this, social grooming is not possible that is single most important social activity (Goodall, 1987.part2). Because of chimps living alone they can easily get stress and depression. "however, they can have deleterious effects on their health and get a variety of physiological disorders" (Goodall, 1987.part2). So, chimps don't kept alone in scientific laboratories. Hence, physical contact of chimps is impossible in scientific
laboratories. Because of fewer caretakers, chimpanzees should not be kept in scientific laboratories. "Bonds between individuals, particularly between family members and close friends, can be affectionate, supportive, and can endure throughout their lives" (Goodall, 1987.part1). Caretakers can understand the animal behavior and they can maintain relationship with chimps. And chimps can also trust caretakers and cooperate during experiments to them. According to Goodall, the most important way we can improve the quality of life for the laboratory chimps is to increase the number of carefully trained caretakers (1987.part2) . Therefore, chimps should not keep in laboratories because of fewer caretakers.
In conclusion, chimpanzees should not be kept in scientific laboratories because of less facility, impossible for physical contact, and fewer take takers in laboratories. We came from the chimpanzees, so we are just another ape. We are just thinking about the few facilities to provide them, but we take so much from them like freedom, health, and often their lives. In my opinion, we have a responsibility to increase facilities, provide physical contact, and more care takers in laboratories. By providing these, we can understand ourselves as well as chimpanzees.
