To fix this problem, they used aircraft carriers until they got closer to Hawaii. There were 6 aircraft carriers used to transport airplanes, which included Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, Hiryu, Shokaku, and Zuikaku. These aircraft carriers carried 408 aircraft used in the attack.
