Why Did Napoleon Lose The American War
powerful countries in Europe battled Napoleon. He declared war on Prussia, Austria, Russia, Great Britain, Spain and the Italian states. Being at war with many countries at once is bad to keep peace after a victory because a country currently at war with France might want to help liberate the remnants of a country that just lost a war. This was seen with Spain during the Peninsular Wars because Russia, Britain and Prussian, all countries at war with France aided Spain in its liberation. Compared to Moltke who only went to war with one country at a time leading to no two front wars or multiple enemies. Furthermore, Napoleon at some points had allies, but they were short-lived. Before going to war with Spain, they were allies with France.

PARA 1: Britain’s consistent and continuing opposition towards Napoleon was certainly a major cause, in the long-term, for his downfall. Britain had been an enemy of France since the brief period of peace caused by the Treaty of Amiens collapsed, in 1803, and continued to oppose Napoleon until 1814, the end of his reign. The British Navy was far superior to that of the French, as while Napoleon was a brilliant leader of the army, he knew little of ships or the sea, and so was rather incompetent as the head of the French navy.…

George Washington was a leader, for instance he motivated the Continental Army to keep fighting even when they had lost almost all hope. On March 10, 1775 Washington was appointed as Commander of the Continental Army. Washington decided to deny the salary that came with his job because he felt in debt to our community even though with this position as commander he would've received a large salary. As British troops marched into our country, he motivated our troops to work as one and gain back the hope of winning. We may lose a battle, but we aren't going to lose this war was the mindset he had put in their heads.…

In the previous 100 years, the British had enjoyed victory after victory in all the wars they had been engaged in. Their superiority was confirmed after defeating great nations like France and Spain which made its military the best in the world. The British had the urge to spread their dominance and so they extended their rule to the American ground. The Americans were on the losing end from the first time the war was declared, but an alliance with France strengthened its position and having the advantage of the war being fought in their backyard, they were able to defeat the British in a costly war for both nations.…

Towards the end of the eighteenth century the nature of warfare would dramatically change on both upon the battlefield but more importantly how it affected society. Continental Europe was engulfed in war from 1792 following the establishment of the French Republic and continued with the rise of Napoleon until his eventual defeat in 1815. Between 1792 and 1809 the French army seemed to grow from strength to strength turning from a “métier of the aristocrat” small, professional army to the first mass citizen army of the modern world. The success of the Napoleonic era French military in the first five coalition wars cannot be credited to one cause alone. Instead the Revolutionary/Napoleons’ Army (Grande Armée from 1805) had several contributing factors to its major successes.…

Many people consider the war of 1812 to be the war, where people died for nothing, money was spent foolishly and battled were led incorrectly. However, it wasn’t all for nothing. The war of 1812 had its impact, maybe not so largely visible, it is still there. Firstly, it led to increase in nationalism, even though United States didn’t win the war.…

In my opinion, I believe the U.S. lost the War of 1812. By the end of the War nothing was gained by the U.S., they did not achieve any of their goals, they were unable to take control of Canada, achive any military objectives, and change the British Policy. Heading into the war, the U.S. were the underdogs facing an already entablished country, England, that clearly had an advantage outnumbering the U.S.. During the war, the U.S. lost brave soliders due to battle, had their Nations Capital burnt down, and walked out of the War empty handed. The U.S. were just not ready to go head to head with a powerhouse country and expect to come out on top.…

The British had many opportunities to win the war, yet they ended up losing. Although the British army was the most disciplined, best equipped army in the world, with the most well-trained soldiers, the problem lied with the size of their army not being adequate to occupy enough territory in North America. With the Americans at an advantage, being the "home team", the British were left keeping long supply lines to Britain and were unable to efficiently supply their troops and horses. The supply ship's journeys not only took 2-3 months, but they were also very costly.…

In 1812 the young nation of the United States decided to dive into a fierce conflict with a powerful European nation again. Shortly after obtaining their independence from Britain, the overzealous young nation assuming an easy victory were unprepared for what laid ahead of them. The United States was recovering from an economic cutback which sparked a political backlash. Because of this meager time and the conspiring events happening across the ocean, citizens became precarious. Shortly after the Louisiana Purchase war broke out between France and Britain, this sparked discussion between political officials in America.…

The small number of Europeans were able to defeat the large groups in Central and South America due to several factors. To begin with, a major factor was diseases, such as small pox. Diseases became a major factor against the Natives because unlike the Europeans they had never been exposed to these illnesses because they had been closed off from outside civilizations like Spain. For example, Williamson states “native populations of the islands, on the other hand, would be all but wiped out by smallpox, measles, and other Old World diseases […] complete isolation from other races millennia” (2009, pg.13). Furthermore, Europeans defeated the Natives because the Spaniards would call for some form of “back up”.…

Did you know that the Revolutionary War is like a parent and child fighting? The Americans (the child) are fighting the British(the parent) and the British keep giving them punishments like more tax. By December, 1777 over 1800 soldiers had died and by March, over 900 more soldiers had died. That means a total of over 2700 soldiers died in all, that is quite a bit of soldiers dying! The colonists did not even have good clothes or shoes and became very sick. I have decided not to reenlist for many reasons, but the main ones are bad conditions, death and illness, and the terrible way the huts are made.…
