Why Did Piglet Decomposed Faster
On September 10th, 2017 a series of 10 dead piglets were put out in the morning. We then observed these piglets for the next 15 days to see how they would progress. We had a series of question like which piglet decomposed faster, how do flies find dead bodies and how the secession of insects were on the bodies that were hanging and on the ground.
First, one of the questions was on if the piglet in the natural state, the burnt one or the buried one would decompose faster. Originally I thought that the piglet buried would be the one to decompose faster. I thought this because of worms and other type of bugs would be able to eat them however, this was disproven. Accordingly the one to decompose faster was the natural piglet. The reasoning is that within the body farm is that on day 8 it was almost completely gone with very little bones while the burnt piglets’ bones were mostly gone.
Secondly, an additional theory question was if the naked piglet or the clothed piglet would decompose at a faster pace. My initial thought process behind that was that the naked piglet would be decomposed at a faster pace. And my hypothesis was correct because on day 5 they were both there and still fully flesh and bone, but, on day 8 the naked one didn’t have anything except some bones but, the clothed one only appeared to have

The way that this played out was that on the first five days it changes were very small. On day three the first started getting blacker and there were some red lines that appeared to be there blood go through out it. Number 4 was starting to have maggots form around the bullet wound. Number 3s knife wound started to get bigger in the stomach region. Then on day 5 the maggots were pouring out are the mouth region to presumably eat the insides of the piglet. Then on day 8 the knife wound was the one that had the least left out of these

My estimated time of death for the first body is approximately 4-5 days before discovery. Not only is the body in the advanced stage of decomposition, but the fly pupae in the 3rd instar wandering stage indicate that the victim died about a week prior (A). This killer has access to decent power tools, concluded by the cleanliness of the cut of the foot. The polished look and lack of visible striations are characteristics of a circular power saw (C). Although it may seem like the killer also dismembered the left arm (who knows, maybe their trying out a new calling card), however, since the scapula is still attached, the arm was most likely removed by carnivores (B). The second body seems to be a little “fresher” than the first. Since the corpse is still has a bloated, green abdomen, and has maggot activity in the eye sockets, I am lead to believe that it is in the early stage of decomposition, with the PMI to be about 2-4 days (D, E). Like the first body, this victim also shows evidence of carnivore activity, seen in the exposure of the facial skeleton and furrows on the maxillae (E). This victim was also of African descent per both rectangular orbits and alveolar prognathism…

The partially decomposed body unearthed is most likely a young female. The person found was young because even though their phalanges have completely ossified their femur and humerus still showed signs of growing by having epiphyseal cartilage. This person also is young because her humerus contains all red marrow and no yellow marrow. The person is a female because the pelvic angle is greater than 90 degrees. This female also may have been pregnant because of the loose and flexible sacroiliac joint and pubic…

Before even starting the dissection, we had to examine the outer portion of the pig. We started our observations around the head, looking at the mouth, ears, eyes, and snout. Then we started the actual dissection by cutting a vertical line along the long axis of the body, a horizontal line immediately posterior to the front legs and anterior to the hind legs. You had to be careful when using the scalpel so as not to piece any underlying organs. We flapped the skin back and pinned it to the dissection pan and cut through the ribs to reveal the organs underneath. We looked thoroughly at the oral cavity, respiratory system, and digestive system.…

Bog bodies are persevered bodies that have been found in the bogs of northern Europe. Bog bodies are well preserved bodies from thousands of years ago, and their conditions are well preserved to leave skin tissue, hair, bones, etc and even leave evidence on how their lifestyles where back then. Such as finding what there last meal was from the stomach tissue and how their last meal they ate could connect to other theories and facts to find the connection on what season they died in, and what time they died in. Also food can be the source to tell how they died, for example Lindow man, his last meal was burnt griddlecake, scientists and archaeologist had found out that Lindow man died by customs and rituals that who had been sacrificed is the one who had the burnt griddlecake. All griddle cake was handed out and the others who got the non-burnt griddle cake were safe from sacrifice. However, today we have more efficient ways to keep the body from decaying as fast (such as refrigerating it). We can keep bodies for a few weeks before they actually start decaying. This is useful for when there is a murder and they have to examine the body a few times. Since we have such a long time before the body starts to decay,…

The sheep heart was the first thing we dissected. I expected it to be disgusting, but oh was I wrong! It was so fun and interesting to slice open the heart and label all the separate areas. The second thing we dissected was a cow eyeball. This one was kind of gross - but still fun! My favorite part of that dissection was seeing how thick the eyeball lens really is. The third, and last, thing we dissected was a sheep brain. It was like the heart, in which it was much less revolting that I thought it would be.…

Much alarmed, we did so, he was insistent. Underneath the floorboards were the arms, legs, head, and torso of a human body. I could not look long, the corpse was so mutilated. The cuts were not quite clean, a little ragged at the edges, and the bones seemed to have been cut part way through and snapped the rest. The head of the corpse seemed to be missing an eye. the blood had pooled underneath the remains. The remains themselves did not seem to be rotted in any way, leading us to believe the mutilation had taken place recently. Due to the state of blood, i estimate the act was done less than two hours before our arrival.…

In the 17th century, when many other colonies used slaves and servants for work and business, racism was heavy. At a small area in Pennsylvania, there was a protest against slavery. It was in Germantown. The settlers here were Christian like many of other colonies. Although slavery was common in this town and useful for many things, they against treating a human like stuff. They didn't agree with any of the ways people used for slaves in America as well as in Europe. Especially, they featured the importance of conscience. Allowing their conscience to be free was a good way to live better with their faith in God and to stand away from bad things. Freedom in their mind was the first step to gain all the liberty that everyone in America deserved.…
