One of the foods that is terrible for canines is chocolate. Chocolate contains a substance called "methylxanthines" (People Food to Avoid Feeding Your Pets 4). Methylxanthines are chemicals and are the reason that chocolate is harmful for dogs. Some of the effects that can happen are "excessive thirst and urination, hyperactivity, abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures and even death" (People Food to Avoid Feeding Your Pets 4). The size of the dog depends on how much chocolate it needs to eat to get sick. Depending on what kind of chocolate a pet eats can also depend on how severe the effect is.
