Why Do Students Need Longer Recess
Tap, tap, goes your pencil as you wait for the bell to ring for recess. After sitting in your classroom for a long time, I think that students deserve a recess longer than fifteen minutes. When recess finally comes, it passes by in a flash because there isn’t enough time to play and use the restroom. Kids also don’t get enough exercise and it makes them hyper during class. They don’t get enough communication with others and it won’t improve their social ability, which proves that recess is really important and leads me to conclude that we need longer recesses.

Getting longer recesses will not only benefit ourselves, but it will also benefit others. This includes teachers because they are always complaining how kids don’t use the restroom during recess. I believe that this is because kids feel that there isn’t enough time to play and they don’t want to waste time to use the restroom. I think that there should be an extra five minute break just to use

It will also let them use all their energy so when they are in class, they won’t be hyper or too energetic which will lead to kids zoning out. But sometimes even when kids do exercise, it isn’t enough and they still have lots of energy. Kids don’t get enough exercise and they become unhealthy. At this rate, almost everyone will be fat and unhealthy because fifteen minutes just isn’t enough time.

Lastly, recess also improves social activity because at recess, kids will interact with each other. During recess, kids will their communicate their ideas and maybe even expand their creative thinking. Improving a kid’s social skill will also make a kid more confident during class. If a kid is confident during class, they have a higher chance to raise their hand or ask a question. Recess might even be able to transform a shy into a star

Krueger middle school claims they need more time to get from class to class. Some students are running from class to class and get hurt. If there's 5 minutes that will be enough time to get a drink and go to the bathroom so there's no valuable time taken away from class. Also if one student shows up tardy it distracts the whole class because they have to turn around and look who came in. If everybody's on time to class there's more time to learn. Its also very convenient for teachers if there's 5 minutes, because they don't have to leave the class to go to the bathroom. A student from krueger middle school stated, ‘Three minutes is not enough time to get there and get your things out of your locker. This year for tardies we have to go to court. Nobody wants THAT! Even if it makes our day a little longer , the time will be well…

“According to the Pediatrics journal “The Crucial Role of Recess in School,” “children develop intellectual constructs and cognitive understanding through interactive, manipulative experiences” (Murray and Ramstetter 183). In other words, children experience and learn various cognitive skills that are not learned in a classroom, but during unstructured play at recess. If one were to study elementary students throughout the school day, he/she would notice that the children become inattentive and restless after sitting at a desk for a period of time. Recess gives children the time that they need to release energy to be able to come back to class more concentrated and productive. When recess is eliminated from elementary schools, these cognitive benefits and skills are lost. Even with more instructional time, most of it would be lost trying to get the children to pay attention throughout an entire school day. Along with cognitive benefits come social and emotional benefits. “Recess promotes social and emotional learning and development for children by offering them time to engage in peer interactions…” (Murray and Ramstetter 184). While interacting with other children at recess, students learn communication skills that they wouldn’t learn sitting in a classroom or at home. Some skills include cooperation, sharing, problem solving, and self-control. All of these skills are used throughout the rest of a child’s life and are vital to learn in order to be successful in the classroom as well as in future activities. Making the decision to ban recess strips children of the opportunity to learn and practice these traits. Not only are emotional, cognitive, and social opportunities taken away, but physical ones are as well. Many people in society today complain and argue about how obesity has taken over the country, and that children need to become more active.…

Recess gives children the opportunity to learn social skills that are not able to learn in the classroom. Through play, they improve their communication skills, they practice negotiation and cooperation, and they learn how to be part of a team (Murray, & Ramstetter, 2013). For instance, when children invent games to play at recess, they practice listening and communicating as the rules are negotiated and compromised. They ask questions to get clarification about how to play. Once the rules are set, they practice following them. They learn that they have to take turns and work as a team to accomplish their goals. If a conflict arises, they work on resolution skills in order that the game can continue. Many of the social skills that are needed throughout life are practiced out on the playground at recess. As important as all of those skills are, the benefits of recess extend into children’s physical well-being as…

To begin with, eliminating recess is a good idea because it gives us that extra time to learn. We all know that the halls are crazy because of the limited time we have at our lockers, so we could use that time for lockers, because we all know some of our lockers are pretty small. Kids would have a lot more time to get organized, and so would the teachers. It would help to just eliminate recess and have more time!…

The general argument made by Rushin in his work Give the Kids a Break is that kids need to have adequate recess time to provide them with the break and physical exercise they need. Additionally, he argues that the cut back on recess time and the general “wussification” of our over concerned society is a disservice to our children and our future. His claim that recess is important to a child’s development is strong because he suggests the many benefits and supports them with statistics, examples, and appeals to the audience of active adults who understand the benefits of recess and exercise.…

It is evident that people are getting more and more obese; thus, this can lead to serious health issues: diabetes, heart disease and in some cases even death. In the article “What Are the Benefits of Recess in Middle Schools? “By Alice Drinkworth states that “One in three kids is overweight or obese, which is three times the rate in 1963.” Well, in 1963 most schools had recess and students weren’t as obese. The APP recommends that all students should get at least 60 minutes a day of exercises. That’s exactly what recess dose. Recess is the time for students to get out of their seats and move around. If schools had 30-45 minutes of recess a day the students can get ¾ amount of recess they deserve.…

Did you know that recess helps students in school? Well, it's true! Although some parents think that recess just makes kids misbehave and fool around which is possible, most of the time recess has a very positive impact on students. I think that we should have a longer recess because students listen better after recess if they exercise more, because kids learn negotiation skills, exercise leadership, take turns, and learn to resolve conflict at recess and because recess has an good effect on academic performance.…

In an organism, almost every dynamic function relies on proteins. A protein 's function is a direct result of their intricate folding, the simplest level of which is the sequence of amino acids. (Fitzpatrick et al, 2011). Each amino acid has a unique characteristic because of the physical and chemical properties in their side chains, which affects the function of a protein. (Alberts et al, 2010). After a cell synthesizes a polypeptide chain, it will take on the structure of a specific protein and fold through the formation of bonds between the various side chains. (Fitzpatrick et al, 2011). Proteins can share four levels of structure: primary, secondary and tertiary or quaternary forms. (Reece, 2011).…
