Refugee lives typically differ greatly from the lives of people in prosperous countries. Some are willing to take these people in, while others turn them away. Also, some countries are unable to take them in. Refugee Footprint reported that The Millennium Development Goals were signed by 190 countries to reduce global poverty. If there is less poverty in countries, then they are able to live comfortably and not resort to illegal or dangerous behavior to live. Poor countries are unable to take in refugees because they don’t have the resources needed to take care of that many people. Countries that are near Syria had an extreme rise since 2012 because of the wars in Syria. Pakistan, with 1.5 million, was the second largest place for taking in refugees due to the 2.59 million Afghan refugees. Armbrecht, as well as many others, stated that the West says the Middle East is not doing enough for the refugees. However, 95% of all Syrian refugees were taken in by nearby countries in the Middle East. These countries include Turkey with 1.6 million, Lebanon 1.15 million, and Iran with 982,000. All of these countries are developed and prosperous. This means they have the resources necessary to take in all of these people. The United States, which has taken in over two million refugees, has recently stopped allowing them into the country. CNN, with many other websites, reported that President Trump signed an executive order on January 27 that bans all Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. for 120 days. There were seven countries in total that this order affected. This order was called Protection Of The Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into The United States.
