Why Do You Encourage People To Become Travelling Pigeons?
I often encourage people to become travelling pigeons. The world is full of experiences if you find them. The reasons are that I learnt to speak French. English is a popular second language for most parts of the world, so you will get along. It is so much better to be able to speak a few words like “hello, goodbye, thank you or how much is this?”(c’est combine?)
You will pick up some slang, intonation, or vocal expressions by the locals. And if you can converse it will expand your cultural horizons.
Further you will come across cultural differences by having an ice cream in Italy known as Gelato?
Then there is the range of cuisine that you will experience. Some of the best seafood pastas I have had were in Italy with clams, prawns, mussels it was delicious. The ploughman lunches in England and Shepard’s pie, the curries in Dubai the bouillabaisse in France, the cheeses in Holland, and so on.
The amount of history that you pick up is immense. Its the oft remembered comment “once seen is better than ten times heard” or read. I shall never forget the battlefields of Gettysburg.
You will see plays, art, churches, monuments, museums (the British museum where the Rosetta stone is housed or the Louvre where the Mona Lisa is) and famous of Stone Henge. You could in all likelihood meet different people from all parts

As I age I realize it is more difficult for me to get around. Being on pension funds takes longer to save for a holiday these days. If I could be blessed with one more trip before I depart this earth that would be to spend a holiday in exotic Japan inspired by the much loved Joanna Lumley travel series to Japan. Its one of the best travel presentations I have seen on destinations and being an actress herself she conveys such a pleasing aura about her presentation. It is done with so much affection, respect and wonderful subtlety and with inimitable humour you have to love her. Japan looks amazing to see and

Learning and obtaining the priceless knowledge that history has to offer is one of the greatest gifts a student can receive. Famous American author Mark Twain regarded in one of his books, The Innocents Abroad/Roughing It, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” This quote has proven true by the experiences, adventures, and excitement from my family and friends who have traveled. I need to be a part of it like a toddler needs his toys. Out of all of the places in the world I have heard of, Europe is the continent that has the places I want to visit most. I want to accomplish traveling to Europe because France, Germany, and England are all places…

A three-hour bus ride, a modest amount of time standing in the heat and a short walk through history. Standing where the Battle of Horseshoe Bend took place, words from class float through my head as I picture the battle taking place. I can't express how much more I appreciate having been able to walk where the men and women before me made history. Regretfully, I am reminded of how little I cared for history and wished I had. Teachers would tell me that we study history because if we don't, "history will repeat itself." What a terrible sell for history! If I were to sit down with my son, future children, and leaders, I would paint a story or take them on an adventure like we did today. History is the language we all must learn to speak.…

For example world war 2 and the Holocaust. I feel learning about these things and visiting a Holocaust museum was very impacting but help me grow as a student by expanding my knowledge. For starters, before learning about World War 2, I had no idea why Hitler had so much hate towards the jews and why he wanted to exterminate a whole race. Now, I understand he was a soldier in world war one and was upset about the Treaty of Versaille and how Germany was in serious debt. He believed that the Aryan race was superior and wanted to take over Europe. It was also shocking how Hitler manipulated the minds of germans and wanted to kill and wipe out an entire race. Hitler had a way with words most these soldier had families after they would kill human beings they’d go to there families later and act as if nothing happened. The fact that 11,000 people were killed and 6,000 were jews is mind blowing. German Nazi’s would make the jews dig there holes and then shoot them and they'd fall right into the whole. When they saw this wasn’t being efficient enough they moved on to gassing the people. Many children died innocent children. Hitler actually got really far with taking over Europe and parts of Africa before the USA, Great Britain and the Soviet Union interfered So when we visit the museum of tolerance it really had an impact on the way i think and it seemed more real to me having more background information. It’s important to expand your knowledge on things like this so we prevent history from repeating…

You may find, if you are friendly and courteous enough, that you will soon start to make friends with the locals. If this happens and you are invited to a meal, it is good to keep in mind some of the local customs. For example, you will usually take off your shoes when entering a house. You can follow your host’s example in this regard. Also it is a good idea to take a gift of some sort with. If you are in a home in the city you might take some pastries or some sugar with you. If you are in the…

Upon arrival I found it easy to adopt the concept of public transportation, and each metro ride became more satisfying as I met varying people of varying nations. I then adjusted my eating schedules and found a taste for French cuisine. With this, I commenced greeting my fellow Frenchmen with, “Bonjour monsieur!” I was determined to not leave as a stereotypical tourist. I made it my goal to experience the nooks and crannies far from tourist France that is so often portrayed. That is when I found myself sitting in a local brasserie sipping “une lemonade” and thinking this is one adventure of a lifetime.…

Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed about traveling overseas. Strange lands, exciting places, and new cultures have always fascinated me. I've always wondered what it would be like to speak another language, to grow up learning different customs, or to live in a completely different way than I do now. This past summer my dream finally came true. I got to travel to England, France, Switzerland, and Germany with Mme. Kelly and five other girls, and suddenly the world was at my fingertips.…
