constructive criticism and learn that everything they do will not be perfect. Constructive criticism is acknowledging the good work the student accomplished, but is also critiquing the problems. The student can be proud of their work, but can also be able to make it better. While inexperience of failure and discouragement of growth are strong downfalls of too much praise; in addition, indolence can equally become a problem in the children’s lives and futures. Too much praise can also result in laziness. Little kids are praised for the littlest things that older kids would not be praised for. Little kids think the little things they do are huge even though these little things are actually expected of them. Which can lead to laziness and not growth. If younger kids do not know what is expected of them they will not mature and instead will become indolent with their work. As an example, if a little kid does not clean up after them self because it is not enforced, it can become a habit and they will continue to become a messy person. Keeping organized is expected at an older age, so an older kid will not receive much praise for it but rather self praise. So in this case, yes, praise is needed, but too much of it could cause unnecessary problems. The false expectations and discouragement of growth and development are results of too much praise received by children.
The excessive praise given to children will create problems in their futures. Kids have become too dependent on praise because they do not know what failure is, and they do not want to know what it is like. That is why constructive criticism is important to teach at a young age, so kids are able to handle praise and defeat. The indolence that comes with too much praise can be hard to fix. If a kid is raised their whole life thinking everything they do is faultless, they will become sluggish, and they will not excel or learn how to accept failure. So when they finally experience a downfall, it can result in panic and anxiety. Yet, if a child never receives praise, they will not know right from wrong. Praise is an essential, but problems can emerge if used too much, but those problems are avoidable if you have a
balance.
