Why I Chose Ice Hockey
My biggest passion in my life since I was young child has been the sport of Ice Hockey. I started playing the sport when I was 9 years old and today I still play competitive hockey. I know that this passion and love for my sport will never fade with time. The sport has been such a big part of my family life and mine and my father’s relationship. It will always be an important part of who I am and is the reason why I would like to peruse a job that has some connection to the sport.
Since my senior year of high school another one of my passions has been economics and finical services. Although it may seem weird to many people for that to be anyone’s passion, it caught my interest and ever since I have been infatuated with it. Therefore, I would love to be hired by the National Hockey League (NHL) in their finance department as a financial risk manager. According to The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics financial managers “are responsible for the financial health of an organization” (“Summary”). As a financial manager for the NHL I would make financial decisions to help promote the growth and profit of the organization in various ways. These financial decisions I would be making would be relating to one of my greatest experiences in life. As a financial manager, I would produce “financial reports, direct investment activities, and develop strategies and plans for the long-term financial goals of their organization” (“Summary”). This job would fulfill both of my passions and be a rewarding experience.
