I have always been interested in health care. So I decided to study nursing and boost myself in nursing field and work in a challenging, interesting workplace and make a difference in people's lives on a daily basis. This began when I was doing my work placement for Certificate III in Aged care last year and felt great achievement when helping needy people in the nursing home. I was highly influence by Florence Nightingale who essentially recognized the nursing profession. After doing some research I found a study by Mooney stating the main reason for the choice of nursing as a career was the job situation it offered, explain as job security, easy access to jobs, and diverse opportunities in the career. Upon the completion of my work placement I gained good mutual understanding of nursing career path and came to know that nursing profession is always in high demand worldwide which has job security with flexibility of hours and days to work in wide range of sectors I was clear that I would study nursing and enjoy my profession accepting variety of challenges everyday which would help me to learn and enjoy my profession. When I was at school, I studied many articles, journals and essays on Florence Nightingale and got inspired by her work, contribution in nursing field which influenced me to choose a nursing as my career.

Florence Nigtingale was borin in 1820 in a wealthy Italian family who was also knowy by” Lady with the Lamp”. When she was 24 years old, she used to be known by God to help the poor and sick. She was Nightingale was the original founder of modern nursing whose hard work turned nursing into a respectable profession raising the standards by incorporating education and responsibilities into the job. Because of her good and hard work in helping poor, needy people she became influential in nursing field and since then nurses became respected and appreciated.
Nightingale has contributed in the improvement and development of health sectors. She improved hospitals and still influenced modern design which came up from her idea. In her book Notes on Hospitals she explained how the setting of the hospital would be improved by increasing ventilation, adding windows, improving drainage, and increasing space. She also improved hospitals. While she was a nurse in the Crimean Warm she notived the dirtiness and deteriotation of the military hospital. Nightingale helped improve hospitals and still influences their modern design. As a nurse in the Crimean War, she took notice of the dirtiness and deterioration of the military hospitals. By making sanitary improvements and establishing standards for clean and safe hospitals, she helped bring down the death rate for soldiers being treated in them.
