Life is too short so I want to take every advantage of it and make a huge impact on the patients that I will get to work with. My passion to work in the nursing field will be fulfilled if I get a chance to improve people’s lives within underserved communities.

The great thing about my job is that they work well with my school schedule so this allows me to work part time and go to school full time. Some of my job duties are to transport my patients to doctor’s appointments, clean their house, and assist them with their medications. My job gives me opportunities to learn more about the healthcare field and has benefited my nursing education. I am great with time management and this is what it takes to develop into a great nurse.
The moment that I knew nursing was the career path I wanted to go down was when I attended the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program. This was a six-week program at
UT Health Houston where I got shadow healthcare providers in different specialties and take college courses that would help me gain more knowledge. During this program shadowing nurses has made me realize that I like the interaction that nurses have with their patients. It is vital for me to know that I will have an impact on many patient’s lives.
