Why I Chose Soccer
Living in a small town ridden with drug addicts, poverty, and few opportunities to succeed discourages children with big dreams every day, but I refuse to give up. I see it in my neighbors, in my friends, even in my family, the wear that a rundown town can have on a person, often times I feel it myself too, but I am determined to make my dreams my reality. Growing up, I have always been passionate about soccer. I have never missed a season or a chance to play. Although, as I grow older, the more I envision soccer in my future. I see myself playing in college, in the Major Soccer League, in the World Cup, but unfortunately my opportunities are restricted. To achieve my goals, I need to not only be a phenomenal player, but I need a fantastic soccer team and soccer program, both of which I do not have at my fingertips. In soccer, a team needs 11 players on the field, my team has 12 players, meaning we have only one substitute for every 90 minute game. With a small and unexperienced team, it is more …show more content…
Through education I have learned discipline and teamwork, which has helped shape me into the athlete I am today. Without education, I would not have been able to play soccer in high school, which would have made my goal to continue my soccer career through college almost impossible. One of the most challenging things to teach children is team work. The process of teaching children to get along with everyone, no matter their differences, is a rough task to accomplish, which is why I am very thankful for my primary educators and all of their hard work to help me grow as a person and be successful; without their efforts I would have not been able to reach my fullest potential as a soccer player or as a team captain. I am also appreciative of my elementary teachers and coaches for chastising me to teach me discipline, I am able to humble myself and recognize my faults due to their

Ever since kicking my first soccer ball during Kinder Kicks, soccer has become a fundamental aspect of my life. Not only have I been playing the sport since then, but the sport has also influenced me beyond solely playing it. It is the culture surrounding the game as well. It is waking up early every Saturday morning to watch the Liverpool game, or getting ready to cheer on the New England Revolution in Gillette Stadium in the evenings. Soccer has been embedded everywhere in my life, from the posters on my bedroom walls to the jerseys that continue to accumulate on my closet floor. This passion has driven me to share the sport with as many as I can. With the Natick Soccer Organization, I have been organizing tournaments for U10 and U14 boys…

Towards the second year of high school during the winter months, where soccer was not in season an opportunity happened to me that made me a better soccer player. There was a group of kids over at Air Force base who would go to the indoor soccer field and just practice around. I was one of those guys and we would meet up and play around twice a week. Practicing with those guys made me good but not good enough. But one day when we were doing our regular practice one of the soccer players who plays for the Air Force team saw me asked me to show up and join one of their practice. So I did. After a couple of practice they decided to let me join their team. I asked the guy why he chose me to join with them, and his response was that I reminded of him back when he was younger. He told me that I had determination and love for this game and that I just needed to practice harder and more. Which is the reason why he had me join his team so that I could practice with them.…

I come from a simple and humble family that had to work very hard to survive and progress in the united states. At a young age I remember losing my father from an unexplicable disease that not even the best doctor in the US were able to figure out. Even though this devastated my entire family my mom never putted her head down and played both roles at home. It was difficult to get over It, but I was able to refuge myself on the soccer fields and get away from the streets ,alcohol, and drugs something that any other kid at age of twelve would have done in those days. I am one of many students who come from small-town U.S.A. with huge aspirations. I have a great desire to depart from my home in order to pursue my dreams. My passion is to become a script/screenwriter for film companies that include; Walt Disney and Pixar Studios. These aspirations came from a small town I call home. Growing up in a small town is not difficult but it can be irritating. When I was younger I believed that my town was a dreadful prison and desired to escape its repulsive grip that it held on me. This town presented itself with nothing except for a Wal-mart and a few fast food restaurants and the nearest mall was thirty minutes away in another state. And as I advanced in years, I continued to believe that all this town…

Like hockey, soccer is second to religion in my family, and my parents use to tease me on how I will put on my soccer Jersey and boots (cleats) in the morning for an evening game. Now, I play for a team, the Northshore Select Club, in the offensive position and at times falls back to the midfield, but can take any role that the team coach decides is the best for the team at any given tournament. This soccer team is one of the best and productive select clubs in my area, with zero loss in this 2017 soccer season, but I cannot claim any sole effort, rather the accolade goes to the entire team. The Soccer offered me a lot of benefits, through this game I learned how to work as a team to achieve a common goal, how to follow coaching instruction, follow rules of engagement, accepts results and use it to prepare for the…

Nothing has hurt or changed my life like the disappointment of being relegated to C team as a sophomore. I fell in love with soccer when I was eight years old, and it has remained my passion to this day. From the feeling of winning a header to completing a perfect pass or even just messing around with friends, it is the most sensational feeling I know. Education is one of the key factors in life that will help anyone succeed. Shipler introduces young children who dream about one day being a lawyer or doctor, but unless they have parents that motivate them, there will never be a chance for them. The children that Shipler tells about are ones who come from low income families, and whose parents never finished school and do not know what it is like to have dreams. Shipler reveals that “[s]ome parents with little education or busy work schedules cannot help with homework, cannot take time for meetings with teacher, and do not know how to be constructive advocates for their children” (Shipler 233). Shipler’s point shows that poverty will…
