Why I Want To Become An AKA

It comes a time in a women’s life where she should have decided to do all that she can do for herself, her community, and society as a whole. I desire to become a part of a society that was created to promote unity and friendship, design solutions to problems affecting our community, and encourage women to pursue higher education. The building blocks of this organization have not only captivated me, but they have also offered reassurance as to why I want to become successful. I have matured and realized that I want to become a member of one of the greatest sororities known to man, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

I aspire to become a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) to become a part of a society where women work together as one to better not only their community, but the entire world. I believe that as an AKA, I will have a greater influence and I will be able to better encourage others to put their best foot forward and achieve great things. With an education, hard work, as well as dedication, one will be equipped for success. I am too striving to achieve great things, just as Ethel Hedgeman Lyle did.
As an AKA, I will strive to become a better friend, neighbor, and sister. I want to improve our community by working together to improve our education system because it is not only crippling African Americans, but the entire country. Alpha Kappa Alpha is composed of women who believe in helping others. A woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha is the personification of the woman I wish to one day become. Thank you for your time and
