Why I Want To Teach
Why I Want to Teach I want to teach for a variety of reasons. First of all, I want to teach because I want to help shape our future. I want to give children the opportunity to expand their minds and grow their self confidence in my classroom. I want to help children who need it and encourage them to reach for their wildest dreams. Secondly, I want to make our community a better place and I firmly believe this begins with the children. I want to give the children I care for a sense of responsibility and pride for their community, something I feel has been lost in Decatur especially. After that, I can condense the rest into the fact that I love working with children. I think it is amazing how they are just like a piece of clay waiting to become the person they will be, and I’d love to say I had even a tiny part in that. There is nothing I love more than hanging out with my own child, my friends children, and of course the children in my family. With my own son I’ve had the privilege of being able to stay home with him, helping him learn and watching him grow every day, and that’s something I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. That’s why I want to teach.

I feel that every child has their own strengths and weaknesses in every subject or area of intelligence. As an educator, I feel that our goal is to build on their strengths and work with them to strengthen their weaknesses. I also think it is important to encourage and create situations where children with different strengths help each other, like a child who excels linguistic intelligence may help a child further develop in that area by creating and telling a story together, using their ZPD which I‘ll talk about next. Recognizing a child’s intelligences is extremely important in creating an appropriate learning environment for

My main reason for wanting to become a teacher is because I love children and I love working with them. Upon graduation from Boston College, I've had the opportunity of working in New York City public schools as a substitute teacher and at a privately owned nursery school in the Bronx as a part-time instructor. My experiences have been very rewarding thus far and have inspired me to want to continue along this path and seek further knowledge in the field. I can't even begin to describe the joyous feeling of knowing that I've touched the lives of the kids-- it is truly priceless. When kids pass tests, when kids say, "I get it," when kids come in and say, "Thanks. You're the best teacher I ever had," or "will we have you again" that means a lot. They make me laugh, they give me hugs, they cheer for my presence, they are observant, and most of them just need a little push. They give me nicknames, they miss me when I'm gone, they try so hard to do what I ask so much of the time. The most amazing feeling of all though is when the kids tell me they want to be just like me and teach just like me and are able to go in front of the class and teach others what I have just taught them. I have finally discovered what I am truly passionate about and am pursuing this passion by continuing my education so that I am able to fulfill my goal of being the best that anyone possible could be. This is what has driven me to want to go to Mercy and continue my education to become a teacher.…

In my heart I have always wanted to teach. I believe that there are three ingredients to learning. All children can learn, children should be respected as people, and children are children and should be treated that way. I believe that children are able to learn regardless of their race, religion, social status and the environment around them. With a little patience and kindness you can teach a child almost anything. Respect is something that is earned. I believe that if you show children the respect that they deserve they will respect you in return. My goal as an educator is to help children learn in a safe, healthy, nurturing and structured environment. I think that children learn best when there are clear and concise rules and when they are able to participate in their learning. During my teaching experience, I find that children learn with different learning styles. Multiple intelligences play a big role in their learning.…

I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of someone whom I consider to be the best teacher in the world. As a child in Virginia, I was inspired by a wonderful coach and teacher named Mr. Scott Nunnaly. Mr. Nunnaly taught me that any dream was possible. If I put my mind to accomplishing any goal I could make it happen. Mr. Nunnaly inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. Through my childhood…

For me the answer to that question was always: I want to be an elementary school teacher and teach kids new and wonderful things. The choice has solidified through time and today I stand on the threshold of achieving this dream in life. Teaching appeals to me because I am naturally good with people, especially young kids. To me they are small versions of grown ups and each has their own thinking and personality. It is so wonderful to be able to interact with kids every day and mold their lives and characters by feeding them with the correct values, manners and other things that will help them throughout life. Many psychologists have opined that a person’s character is solidified by the time he or she is seven years old. Eric Berne definitely thought so. He referred to this as a person’s life script (Berne, 1984). Teaching is a great responsibility but I am proud to take it up. In my opinion the profession is worthy of respect. We mold little people and are proud like no other when they achieve the best positions in life. Imagine the teacher of Barrack Obama when he is interviewed on TV and asked to comment on the Presidential candidate as a young child. Wouldn’t you be proud? Teaching is a demanding profession, but for me the rewards would far outweigh the efforts. This…

I want to be a teacher for several different reasons. I initially decided teaching was for me when I was in middle school. I had an amazing teacher that helped me through a lot. She made a huge impact on my life, and I knew then that I wanted to be able to do the same for other kids. I later went on to have children of my own, which gave me even more reason to become a teacher. And even with the economy the way it is today, there are actually a lot of opportunities for teaching given the wide variety of jobs a teaching degree can obtain. I also understand the responsibility that comes with teaching and that the job doesn’t end when you leave the classroom. That is why I respect the teaching field as much as I do. I know I still have a long way to go before I get to my teaching career but I feel it will all be worth it when I get there.…
