Why I Want to Be a Teacher
I want to be a Teacher
I want to be a teacher for several different reasons. I initially decided teaching was for me when I was in middle school. I had an amazing teacher that helped me through a lot. She made a huge impact on my life, and I knew then that I wanted to be able to do the same for other kids. I later went on to have children of my own, which gave me even more reason to become a teacher. And even with the economy the way it is today, there are actually a lot of opportunities for teaching given the wide variety of jobs a teaching degree can obtain. I also understand the responsibility that comes with teaching and that the job doesn’t end when you leave the classroom. That is why I respect the teaching field as much as I do. I know I still have a long way to go before I get to my teaching career but I feel it will all be worth it when I get there.
Having the chance to help kids is a great advantage by itself. You never know what they may have going on outside of the classroom. Being a teacher will give me the ability to provide them with not only education, but a lot more. I can be there to give them structure, advice, influence, and support when they need it. I feel all of these are essential for a great learning experience and I would love to be one of the ones to give that to them. In the long run being a great teacher can result in changing someone’s life for the better and not even knowing. Giving them the confidence they need to succeed all throughout life. Letting them know your there to help with any problems they may have even if they aren’t class related can make all the difference.
The opportunities are out there. Having a teaching degree can put you in several different places. There are daycares, public and private schools, troubled youth, and special needs. And for those who like to make their money on their own time can tutor privately. I can work all year, or be off work all summer. There is no limit to what you can do as a teacher as

My main reason for wanting to become a teacher is because I love children and I love working with them. Upon graduation from Boston College, I've had the opportunity of working in New York City public schools as a substitute teacher and at a privately owned nursery school in the Bronx as a part-time instructor. My experiences have been very rewarding thus far and have inspired me to want to continue along this path and seek further knowledge in the field. I can't even begin to describe the joyous feeling of knowing that I've touched the lives of the kids-- it is truly priceless. When kids pass tests, when kids say, "I get it," when kids come in and say, "Thanks. You're the best teacher I ever had," or "will we have you again" that means a lot. They make me laugh, they give me hugs, they cheer for my presence, they are observant, and most of them just need a little push. They give me nicknames, they miss me when I'm gone, they try so hard to do what I ask so much of the time. The most amazing feeling of all though is when the kids tell me they want to be just like me and teach just like me and are able to go in front of the class and teach others what I have just taught them. I have finally discovered what I am truly passionate about and am pursuing this passion by continuing my education so that I am able to fulfill my goal of being the best that anyone possible could be. This is what has driven me to want to go to Mercy and continue my education to become a teacher.…

When I completed my undergraduate I never thought of becoming a teacher. I always thought that I wanted to become a police officer. I wanted to help people, live an active and adrenalin filled career. After a few years in the military working as a police officer that adrenalin rush and life style got old real quick. That career was not for me and I was meant for something else. What I realized what really made me happy was my time as a coach. I have spent time as a volunteer football coach with several different age groups. I enjoyed every minute of it. Interacting with student athletes and participating in school activities was refreshing and rewarding. This is when I considered a change in careers.…

Over the last few months of my research into pursuing a career in education I have been told many negative statements. A career in the education field is not all that it is cracked up to be. Teaching is not always fun, and if you are a person that craves constant recognition and likes having people say thank you, don't bother becoming a teacher are just a few. However, I believe that the rewards will out way the negativities.…

Becoming a successful teacher has been a desire in my heart for many years. As a high school student, I had the desire to enter the medical field. The turning point toward a teaching career occurred when I became employed with a small preschool as the three-year old toddler instructor. This job was extremely rewarding. It thrilled my heart to watch these small children grasp new concepts and develop throughout the year. The smiles on their faces when they learned to zip their coat, or say their ABC’s, or count to 100 was worth all the challenges you faced with a classroom of three-year old toddlers. Being able to see the glow on a child’s face when they succeed is indescribable and one of the reasons I want an education degree so that I can witness this experience daily.…

Unlike many of my peers, I have always loved school. I firmly believe the day is not complete until I learn something new, whether it be about the state of the world or another person. A career in teaching will ensure I learn something every day from my students, so I will never have to let go of that mindset. To teach is also to learn, and there is no better way to master my craft than to teach it to others. To quote Aristotle: “Those that know, do. Those that understand,…

A job can be simply defined as a regular activity performed in exchange for payment. I believe that today you have to be extremely gifted at a job in order to be able to stay with it your entire working career. Nowadays many people are thrown from job to job seeking stability in their lives. Almost everyone enters the work force to try and provide whatever they can for their family. It’s hard to compete in today’s occupations with more and more people striving to get to the top, to be the boss with the newly remodeled home, 2.5 kids, golden retriever, cabin in the mountains, and Mercedes Benz. People feel a great achievement when they have reached the point where they can provide these material things to their families no matter how they do it or what they have to go through to get it, whether it be working long hours or cheating the stock market. Unfortunately it’s the same people who forget who got them to the point where they can afford their Mercedes Benz. I feel that credit should not only be given to family, friends, and pastors, rabbis or priests, but also to teachers. Any school could always use another good teacher, one who truly cares about what they teach and who they are teaching to, which is why I want a job that will not only fulfill my life but also the lives of others around me. My dream job is to become a teacher.…
