When I completed my undergraduate I never thought of becoming a teacher. I always thought that I wanted to become a police officer. I wanted to help people, live an active and adrenalin filled career. After a few years in the military working as a police officer that adrenalin rush and life style got old real quick. That career was not for me and I was meant for something else. What I realized what really made me happy was my time as a coach. I have spent time as a volunteer football coach with several different age groups. I enjoyed every minute of it. Interacting with student athletes and participating in school activities was refreshing and rewarding. This is when I considered a change in careers. Both experiences have been very beneficial in helping me understand the classroom environment and challenge that teachers encounter. I have learned a lot, the good and bad. My time in the classroom as a substitute teacher has been good experience and a bad experience. The more time I spent in the classroom the more I learned what not to do and what works and build upon it.
