First and foremost, irregular locker searches help to reduce violence and drug use in schools. Randomized locker searches help to find any weapons or drugs being hidden by student in lockers. THe searches can help to save lives, if there is a weapon found. If it is suspected that the student id breaking a law, or even school rule, a locker search may be carried out to see if the allegations are true.…
High school has its ups and downs. My goal is to help you with one of the downsides and give you an advantage over the average Joe. One of the most frequently used objects in high school is the locker. Some people are blessed with wonderful fully functional lockers, while others, like me, for the past two years have been cursed with damaged and unforgiving lockers. If you happen to be cursed like me, or just get in a fix every once in a while, this guide will help you impress you fellow locker mates by teaching you how to quickly and efficiently open your jammed locker and avoid any undesired tardiness. I have drawn out for you three different techniques to try and to master, depending on the situation.…
It is important to reassure children, young people and adults that any information about them is kept confidential and only used where and when necessary and only for the duration required in order to maintain their trust and security. It is their right to privacy to have this information kept confidential and not passed on for others to talk about or gossip. As a member of teaching staff it is important not to violate their trust or put them at risk of harm by divulging personal information. Children and young people need to be able to know that their information will be kept confidential and they won’t be put at risk of teasing or bullying by other pupils. Adults need to feel secure in the knowledge that they or their children will not be the topic of playground gossip by other parents and that their home details will be safe from others. Parents should be reassured that the school is providing correct care and support for them and their children.…
Children and young people need a good environment to learn. The environment needs to be clean, warm, quiet, safe and friendly. All these factors make it easier for them to learn as they are less likely to get distracted and hurt. The learning environment need to be kept clean and tidy to stop hazards arising and to stop accidents happening. Most security measures can be low cost and mainly common sense. School gates should be kept closed and locked at all times during the school day. Having one entrance to the school also means its more secure and makes monitoring of strangers much easier for staff. All visitor’s including parents bringing in forgotten lunches should use the main reception door and been seen by a receptionist. They should not walk around the school unaccompanied and if teachers see people walking around without visitor badges on they should question them. Playgrounds should only be accessible from inside the school and not by external visitors. Parking areas are meant to be separated from play areas. Schools need security to protect our children from harm and danger and have procedures in place to stop accidents happening, for example:…
Students could start purloin other people's possessions, start pickpocketing, and start going through other people's merchandise. All of this theft needs to be stopped and that is why locker searches are very imperative to our schools.…
“We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”(Hang Together) those words were spoken by Benjamin Franklin while signing the Declaration of Independence. However, is our country “hanging separately” because of schools? If we must hang together, why do teachers not trust us enough that they have to search our locker for illegal drugs or weapons? Even though some people argue that locker searches can prevent illegal substances and weapons from entering the school, locker searches may decrease the trust from the students while they create unnecessary pauses from the learning process and being just as wrong as regular searches.…
First and foremost why students agree about looker searchers is because if someone is hiding a weapon or something like that in there then the school could be in danger. Also if other had a gun and lost a person's temper and went on a rampage others could start killing people in the school. Next others could find knives and blades and other tools to look for in the lockers. Also others could easily hurt someone with a knife other could be messing around and still…
What if you were a teacher and an armed intruder came into your school? How would you protect your students and yourself? If we allowed teachers to carry a firearm that is stored in a locked container a student would not be able to acquire the weapon, and only in emergency situations would the teacher be allowed to remove it from the container. If there was to be a situation where an intruder entered the school building the teacher would be able to protect themselves and the students. There should; however, be a…
The argument against backpacks is now justified because students can keep back packs with them and nobody will get hurt. Teachers can set up a designated area for backpacks to got to prevent tripping or any injuries during the school day. Students backpacks will no longer lay about and cause a potential threat to students and teachers safety. We can place them in certain areas of the classroom so that we to continuously ensure the safety of faculty and students. Also back packs pose no greater danger with weapons and or drugs then students everyday purses, gym bags, or even laptop bags. Those items can be just as dangerous as any book bag out there. A bag is a bag, so if you're allowing gym bags, purses or anything of the sort consider that the threat may still remain without backpacks. Last of all having backpacking during emergencies would speed up any the safety procedure since your backpack would be right there with you at all times during the day. If there would ever be a need to leave the school you would have all of your essentials with you so you can grab what you need and exit the building. If you have everything with you evacuating would be much faster, compared to if a student had something precious in his or her locker that they had to…
To them, it protects students rather then invading their privacy. Going through student's things doesn't ensure safety, it makes them not trust school authority. Others believe that students can't be trusted with bags in school. Again, this causes students to not trust advisors at school. If administrators want students to trust them, they shouldn't search their things without their permission. Limitations on student's Fourth Amendment rights are inexcusable.…
The lockers have been given to the students expecting them to take care of it and being responsible over it. What is the need to go through it? I have been given a locker since sixth grade and never once has a teacher much less a principle gone through my locker. If they were to go through my locker it would make me feel like i'm a suspect for something I have no connection with.On our way into school each day student’s book bags are checked each day. There have even been instances in which the security guards have taken over an hour to go through the student's belongings, while teachers, administrators and principals go through without being checked not only is it hypocritical but unjust. Teenagers should be given the benefit of the doubt. I have been present in an event where a teacher unjustifiably read his messages out loud after his phone rang in class without him even having it in his hands. It wasn't in the teacher’s responsibility nor authority to go through his messages much less reveal his messages. We are called the next generation yet we are restricted to are given liberty's by others insecurities. If people can't practice what they preach then they should change their speech. I would rather be considered a rebellious teenager than a lying hypocrite.Trust has become nothing but a blur and a silver lining with perseption, perseption is all that they can see in the end of the…
Most children are naturally trusting of adults and unfortunately not all adults can be trusted.…
Would you like it if the school went through your locker and personal belongings without reason. All over lockers are checked without a good reason. I feel that schools should not be able to check our lockers without proof that we have something or that they believe we do. If students are going to school they are going to learn. If students are going to school then they are trying to learn not harm others.…
Have you ever wondered how school shootings, violence, happens in everyday school life without teachers and parents knowing how their child became involved? I support random backpack checks. I believe it would help keep our schools and kids safe.…
Having segues would be awesome to have. It would help us get to our classes on time and not be late. Moving sidewalks would also be a big help to the school. Instead of walking to class, you can take a ride to class. Go-karts would make it even faster to get to class. Think of how much time we can have in class if we get there. This is a big deal for the school to have transportation inside.…
