These complications may be infection, incompetent cervix, etc. Fetal or placenta parts left in the uterus is considered an incomplete abortion and could lead to infection and a repeated procedure of abortion. Even worse than that, the infection could lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. An Incompetency cervix is caused by the cervix being opened prematurely instead of naturally before birth. Opening the cervix early can damage or weaken it and could potentially cause miscarriages. Besides the physical harms, there are also many psychological damages such as regret, a sense of loneliness or isolation, insomnia or nightmares, suicidal thoughts and feelings, eating disorders, depression, etc. Although anyone is prone to these symptoms, not all women are affected or may be phased at all.
