I believe that if Abraham Lincoln were still alive congress people would have made efficient constitutional decisions. Lincoln was a very honest and a person who was not afraid to give his opinion. After his death, the congress did not know how to keep both the North and South satisfied. I strongly believe that Lincoln was the only person who could do that with little or no tension. The poor whites and blacks were now in competition with each other because they both needed places to stay and work within their price range. Many people (mostly Southern) did not like the freed slaves. They did not like the African Americans because they still believed that blacks were not human, and blacks were the only people who could finish picking their cotton.
