Why Is Grammar Important In The Workplace?
As a child, the importance of being able to find and hold a steady job is obsolete in the mind. Growing older, money becomes more relevant in life because our society revolves around it. How would it feel to be denied a job simply because one’s grammar was below par? Grammar plays a huge role in today’s workplace because it acts as a gateway between the people you both working with and working for. Employers now a days are looking for people who have a healthy supply of writing and communications skills for their jobs. An article written by Jeffrey Selingo mentions how it is very difficult for one employer to find said people because it is said that college students, if not writing on a regular basis, are not going to retain the information

Adams is an experienced writer and apart of the Forbes writing staff. She has been writing for Forbes since 1995 and before that she was writing for the Leadership channel. Adams beliefs about grammar are not solely about being able to get a job, but also about how it makes people look. Adams explains that using good grammar makes it easier to communicate at the workplace, projects ones’ intelligence, shows organization, and shows respect in the conversation (Adams). Being able to communicate in the workplace is very important because the priority is getting work done, which can be hindered by poor communication. The other three examples just show how mature a person has become with their level of education and grammar. Weins on the other hand, who is a CEO of iFixit and Dozuki, believes that anyone who uses poor grammar should not be hired in his workplace. He mentions that people who make fewer grammar mistakes will make fewer mistakes while on the job, and that using good grammar on resumes will higher the chances of one getting hired (Weins). If someone with poor grammar applies for one of Wein’s companies, he will make sure they do not get a job. Grammar, in his words, is “credibility” and therefore using poor grammar means you are not there to better his companies (Weins).
