STEM CELLS POSSIBILITIES Scientists have already done many extraordinary innovations and experiments with stem cells, specifically embryonic stem cells. It is cutting edge technology when it comes to the medical industry. Stem cell research can be furthered and help even more patients of the same, or different diseases. Stem cells have the possibilities to grow new tissues, which can lead to growing full organs. Stem cell research can hopefully make hereditary diseases like Parkinson's, …show more content…
Susan from The Promise of Research with Stem Cells explains this best by using an analogy. The analogy then leads to explain the point that not everything works for everyone. Some medicines work universally, but that us rarely the case. Most medicines only work for a select group of people with the desired genetic traits. Stem cell medicines can make medicines that work for each and every person based on their DNA, instead of the select few who have the genetics to do so. According to Susan, “ It takes on average 13 years ( one drug,) with a sunk cost of four billion dollars, and only one percent of drug that start down that road and going to get there ( being passed.) With this being said, Stem cell based medication will allow faster medicine production because it will not have to be tested for the general public, just for the patients
