Once freed from military groups youths have to fight back for their honor and try to reintegrate back into society (Child Soldiers). Child soldiers are seen as victims which create a barrier for adult soldiers to fight against because they feel sorry and the need to help the youths. There have been multiple occasions in which the United States has crossed paths with child soldiers. For instance “the first U.S. soldier killed in the war on terrorism was shot by a fourteen-year-old sniper in Afghanistan” (Kaplan).
