Why Is Jesse Jackson A Chief Learning Officer
Jesse Jackson is the Chief Learning Officer of JPMorgan Bank. I recently read an article that he penned where he discussed the keys to his career success with the organization. According to Jackson, one of the most significant keys to his success was a detailed and careful strategy so that he would always be alert and responsive to an ever-changing environment. He mentioned that not being able to quickly adapt or react to changes within the industry would have detrimental consequences to not only his personal career but to the industry itself. Jackson approaches his role as Chief Learning Officer by adapting to employee’s competencies and through careful planning, which Chapter 1 mentions as being probably the most important activity in the manager’s professional life. According to Jackson, he first dedicates time to recognize what drivees employees by learning about their wants at a basic level. Then, he ascertains what methods of teaching would work best in helping them to attain their goals while meeting company objectives. One of JPMorgan’s most significant socially responsible activities to date is an annual event where it pledges approximately 47,000 of its employees to provide 540,000 hours of volunteer service in the local communities it is involved in around the globe. Additionally, JPMorgan gives away more than $200 million to charitable causes along with providing resources and knowledge to help the economic progress of communities. Through its constant contribution and commitment to assist communities in need, JPMorgan has proven that it is devoted to creating pathways to opportunity by its concern with the communities it is involved

    Company Q’s attitude towards social responsibility appears to be nonexistent, possibly through ignorance or disconcert. Either way the lack of social responsibility affects their business and community’s perception of their business.     When it comes to an organization that focuses on effective learning, training is one of the most important aspects to the organizations success. It is imperative to ensure that all employees are receiving the proper amount of training that will enable them to have a better handle on their job.
